World Merit

Following the controversy on the shutting down of schools in some northern states in Nigeria for Ramadan Fast. Here's what our Executive Director Nworisa Michael. has to say;

Ramadan Holidays: Rights of Christian Students in Northern Nigeria, Finding Common Ground As someone who has lived in different parts of Nigeria - born in the Southeast, raised in the South-south, and now residing in the Northwest for over a decade - I have gained a deeper understanding of the complexities of our diverse nation.

As part of our activities towards contributing to strengthening democracy in Nigeria last week Stand For Peace Initiative was part of the accredited observers that followed the state local government area elections in Kano state.

Upon conclusion of the exercise and alongside other civil society organizations we made an interim report which we presented to the Kano State Electoral Commission.

In Kano, as preparations for the local government elections gain momentum, Civil Society for Inclusive Governance, a group convened by Amb. Ibrahim A. Waiya, ED of Citizens for Development & Education, comprising:

began high-level stakeholders' engagement to advocate for a 30% slot allocation for women and persons with disabilities. The group recently met with Dr. Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, the Kano State Party Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
