OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KANO STATE.

URGENT DEMAND FOR THE IMMEDIATE COMMENCEMENT OF CHULA - MAI'ALLO ROAD PROJECT

Your Excellency,

We, the residents, community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders of Chula and Mai'Allo Communities in Kano State, write to express our profound concern, disappointment, and to make a final appeal for immediate government intervention.

Since the inception of this administration, we have consistently engaged your office through multiple correspondences submitted directly at regular intervals. Identical communications have also been channeled through the office of the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Works.

Furthermore, the leadership of the Gezawa, Kumbotso, and Nassarawa Forum has, on several occasions, visited the office of the Honorable Commissioner to formally lodge our complaints and to seek clarity regarding the commencement of the project. To date, we have not received any definitive timeline or implementation framework.

Justification
1. i). Population and Infrastructure Need: Chula and Mai'Allo Communities host a substantial population whose socio-economic activities depend heavily on a functional transportation network for the movement of persons, goods, and services.
ii). Civic Contribution: The area has historically recorded a significant voter turnout during elections, history will never forget how our people voted you across the board and remains committed to supporting your policies and programs for the benefit of entire people.

2. The Approved Project That Exists Only on Paper: It is on record that your Executive Council approved the construction of the Chula – Mai-Allo Road. The news was celebrated across our communities because this road is our only link to markets, hospitals, schools, and the rest of Kano State.
For patients, it is the route to life. For students, it is the route to education, in short this is only route for going to our normal businesses of life.

3. A year After Approval, Nothing Has Started: To our shock and frustration, no contractor has mobilized. No equipment is on site. No work has commenced. The road remains abandoned, worse than before.
During the rainy season it is impassable. During dry season, dust and potholes destroy vehicles and goods. Pregnant women lose pregnancies, and emergency cases die because rescue vehicles cannot pass freely.

4. The Growing Anger in Our Communities: Your Excellency, silence in the face of suffering breeds anger.
After several failed attempts to get reliable information for the project takeoff from the Ministry of Works, our people have resolved to use section 40 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria to hold a peaceful rally and protest during the upcoming electioneering campaign to tell the world and to tell you that we have been abandoned and disappointed at the end.
Our stand for peaceful protest is not politics. This is survival. We do not want to fight government we used our thumbs to voted. We want the government to work for us.

5. Our Demands: We therefore demand, respectfully but firmly:
i. Immediate mobilization of the contractor to Chula-Mai'Allo road within 14 days of receiving and publishing this letter, if no action taken by your good office, we have no option rather than to allow our people to exercised their right under section 40 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, to hold peaceful assembly.
ii. A public statement from the Ministry of Works with the project timeline, budget, and contractor details.
iii. Your personal commitment that this project will not be abandoned like others before it.

Your Excellency, you were elected to serve entire Kano State, not just the urban centers. Chula and Mai'Allo people voted, and we are still waiting for the dividends of democracy.
Do not force us to take to the streets during campaigns to remind you of your promise. Act now, and you will be remembered as a leader who listened.
While await your urgent response, we pray Almighty Allah to guide, protect, and support you to continue making Kano first.
