Jos SDGs4Us Project
we are a school-based movement advancing and localising student-led action on the SDGs in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.

World Water day was recently marked worldwide with official Reports indicating that a whooping 2.1 billion people still lack safely managed drinking water.
The call to action needs to be stronger, more intentional and action driven to ensure that everyone has access to clean and safe water.
For us at JosbSDGs4Us It starts with awareness and understanding the importance of Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) amongst students and translating that awareness into active participation and opportunities in water management.
Because access to safe water should never be a privilege, but a basic right.
Building sustainability through the SDGs, One school, one class and one student at a time.

SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) with the students of GSS, West of Mines. โฃ
โฃ
At first, many of the students placed the blame for everything wrong with Nigeria squarely on the systems of government. โฃ
โฃ
But as the conversation progressed, we guided them to a deeper realisation:
In many ways, they are simply them, years from now.โฃ
โฃ
We emphasised that achieving SDG 16 is only possible when each of us plays our part โ advocating and acting in the interest of peace and social justice, regardless of our differences or biases.โฃ

speaking up when something is wrong,โฃ
refusing to engage in malpractice,โฃ
and choosing to respect rules that often seem easy to fluant.โฃ
โฃ
Because when they eventually become judges, politicians, law enforcers, and lawmakers, that sense of justice must already be rooted within them. โฃ
โฃ
That is how the foundations for strong institutions that uphold justice and promote peace are built.โฃ

From awareness to engagement, questions, and thoughtful discussions, our conversation with the senior students of GSS Angwan Rogo was truly insightful.โฃ
โฃ
The session highlighted the importance of Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) and its connection to Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), and how both play critical roles in ensuring students can get the very best from their education (SDG4).โฃ
โฃ
The session reminded us that when students understand the issues that shape their lives and communities, learning becomes more than just classroom activity, it becomes a pathway to building a healthier and more sustainable future for themselves. โฃ

When girls learn about the SDGs, they grow up into women who are ready to protect the planet, fight inequality, and lead change.โฃ
โฃ
Today, we celebrate the girls who will build tomorrow. โฃ

Education is the foundation of sustainability.
When young people understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) early, they not only become aware of global challenges but also see how their actions can contribute to solutions.
Awareness transforms into responsibility, and responsibility into action.

This week's session with senior students of GSS Lamingo reaffirmed that young people want more than to be beneficiaries.
They want to held in partnership and guided to advocate and drive change as partners in development, education, and inclusive policies.

This weekโs conversation with the students of GSS Angwan Rogo was truly exciting.
We talked about things that donโt always make it into textbooks โ hygiene, climate responsibility, waste culture, civic behaviour, and what it truly means to protect shared spaces and become advocates of systems that work, even at a young age.
For us, it always starts with one simple question:
โ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐จ๐งโ๐ญ ๐๐๐ญ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ, ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ?โ
And the more we engage these young minds, the clearer the answer becomes.
