With Barcelona’s asking price said to be in the region of €60-90m (it’s a big region), we have reportedly sent them an offer worth €40m. So that probably isn’t going to get it done, especially with López himself not exactly pushing for an exit. After all, he signed a new long-term contract just last year and would go on to feature 46 times for the Blaugrana last season.

But I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask. And our ability to pay up may be limited by financial fair play concerns — especially with Nicolas Jackson now suddenly not turning into a net-positive line item in the spreadsheets.

I don’t imagine Barca will give us the time of day for this bid, let alone for a Spain international winger, so unless we seriously up the offer or the 22-year-old starts agitating for a move, this isn’t going to go anywhere anytime soon.

The football transfer news expert posted on X: “Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town for £37m (€42.9m) fee, here we go!

“Omari, on his way to medical right now as personal terms are also agreed for new Nottingham Forest signing. Follows James McAtee (done) and Arnaud Kalimuendo (very close).”

Chelsea included a 25% sell-on clause when they offloaded Hutchinson to Ipswich last summer, meaning they stand to earn around €10.7m thanks to his imminent move to Nottingham Forest.
