Strengthening response. Building resilient communities!
A One-Day Community-Based Stakeholders Consultative Engagement on Early Warning and Early Response (EWER), organized by JDPC Jos in Partnership with CAFOD and Observatoire Pharos, successfully brought together stakeholders across four target communities of (Kagoro & Kafanchan (Kaduna State) and Bokkos Town & Gana Ropp (Plateau State).
The engagements convened traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, women and youth leaders, PWDs, and community influencers in a shared commitment to strengthening early warning systems and promoting peaceful coexistence.
From engaging discussions on the EWER concept and its linkage to the Barometer of Cultural and Religious Pluralism, to participatory sessions on identifying and mapping early warning indicators, the engagements created a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, learning, and collective reflection.
Through group work and community mapping exercises, participants identified key conflict triggers, analyzed existing response gaps, and explored practical solutions tailored to their local contexts. Each community went further to develop a Community-Based Early Warning Action Plan, clearly outlining priority issues, response actions, responsible actors, and timelines.
The sessions concluded with strong commitments from stakeholders to work collaboratively in preventing conflicts and reinforcing the importance of community-driven solutions in building sustainable peace. The conversations may have ended, but the action has just begun.
When communities are empowered, conflict prevention becomes possible.

As we reflect on this sacred day, let's remember Jesus' ultimate sacrifice for us. His love, compassion, and forgiveness guide us. 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do' (Luke 23:34).
May we spread love, kindness, and forgiveness to those around us.
May the cross be our beacon of hope, guiding us through darkness to light.
Wishing you all a blessed Good Friday, from all of us at JDPC Jos!
