Emir of Ilorin Appoints Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as Chief Imam of Ilorin

ILORIN – His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has officially appointed Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate.

The appointment follows a rigorous selection process in which Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani emerged victorious among several distinguished scholars vying for this prestigious spiritual leadership position.

About the New Chief Imam

Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, aged 42, is a grandson of the 8th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, and the son of the 10th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.

Prior to his appointment, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir was the founder and proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies, Airport Egbejila, Ilorin. He also served as the Imam leading daily and weekly Jumu'ah prayers at Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque, Oko Olowo, Ilorin. Additionally, he is a presenter of the Al-Bisharah Islamic Foundation radio program on Radio Kwara during Ramadan and teaches at Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin.

Emir's Remarks

In his remarks, the Emir offered prayers for the new Chief Imam's successful reign, wishing him long life, sound health, and divine wisdom to effectively pilot the affairs of the Muslim Ummah.

"Amin. Long live the Ilorin Emirate. Shehu, Shehu, Shehu, wallahu yazimuka mina nas, amin," the Emir declared.

BREAKING: INEC has removed the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro from its portal as PDP National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary, respectively, replacing both names with Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran and Eyim Donatus Henry as the new executives.

Ahmed and Daniel are part of the Makinde-backed Turaki faction while Odeyemi and Eyim are members of the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's faction, which is also the recognised faction of the PDP.

INEC had earlier recognised the FCT Minister's faction by putting the names of Abdulrahman Mohammed as the National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary, but had left the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel as part of the executives, a situation which created confusion.

With the recent update on its portal, all executives of the PDP on INEC's portal are now aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Engr Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, FNSE.

The honour, which took place today, places Araba among the elite ranks of engineering professionals who have demonstrated exceptional competence, leadership, and contribution to the profession both in Nigeria and beyond.

The FNSE conferment is not a ceremonial title. It is a rigorous recognition reserved for engineers who have shown sustained excellence, ethical practice, and meaningful impact in their fields. Araba's journey to this honour has been marked by years of technical discipline, project ex*****on, and a commitment to engineering standards that many admire but few achieve. Today's recognition affirms what those who have worked closely with him already know: Araba is a man of depth, not just in politics but in his core profession.

In a brief remark after receiving the honour, Araba dedicated the fellowship to his mentors, colleagues, and the young engineers across Kwara who look up to the profession as a path to national development. He noted that engineering is not just about structures and machines. It is about problem solving, integrity, and building a future that lasts. The FNSE title, he said, comes with greater responsibility to serve both the profession and society.
