Kidnapping of Mrs. Ibukun Otesile in Ibadan: Appeal for Urgent Security Intervention

The attention of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State Chapter, has been drawn to the disturbing abduction of Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, a mother of two, who was kidnapped on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the General Gas, Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mrs. Otesile, who is the daughter of Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, a respected Christian leader, was taken by unknown individuals right in front of her home as she attempted to enter her residence.

Confirming the incident, Dr. Olamide Olanrewaju, Personal Assistant and Media Aide to the outgoing CAN Chairman in Oyo State, stated that the matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities. The Oyo State Police Command, Eleyele, has begun investigations, although no official statement has yet been released, and no information about the abductors is currently available.

The Christian Association of Nigeria is urgently appealing to the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the Nigeria Police Force, and all relevant security agencies to deploy every necessary resource to ensure the safe and immediate release of Mrs. Otesile.

We further call on members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any credible information or useful leads to the nearest security agency to aid ongoing investigations.

Our prayers and support remain with the Otesile family during this deeply distressing period, and we trust that all efforts will lead to her safe return.
