🥶 Does drinking cold water really cause pneumonia?

Someone may have told you:

👉 “Don’t drink cold water, you’ll get pneumonia!”

But is that actually true? 🤔

NO. ❌ Cold water does NOT cause pneumonia.

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by germs such as bacteria, viruses, and sometimes fungi.

Drinking cold water doesn't put those germs into your lungs.

Cold water may feel uncomfortable for some people, especially when they have a sore throat, but it doesn't cause pneumonia.

So the next time someone says, “Cold water causes pneumonia,” you know what to say. 😄
