The North-East is shifting from "entitlement" to "enterprise."

This past Wednesday and Thursday, I attended the North-East Youth Investment and Innovation Summit. We often talk about the "potential" of the region, but that wasn't the case this time. The conversations this week moved beyond just asking for funding but focused on building the actual infrastructure to absorb it.

Two things became clear to me after listening to the sessions:

The Shift in Mindset: There is a strong call to action for us to move from an "I will start when I get capital" mentality to value creation. Investors aren't looking for charity cases; they are looking for scalable, climate-smart, and tech-driven solutions.

The Infrastructure Gap: The will is there, but we need more practical engineering and design systems to bridge the gap between "idea" and "market." Luckily, with the new hub being built, that gap is being closed.

My biggest takeaway: The North-East doesn't just need more money—it needs better models and innovative minds. As youth in this space, our job is to build the proof of concept that makes investment inevitable.
