It brings me great joy and excitement to write this post as I announce my return to blogging and the revival of wordsofnimrod". It has been a while since our last encounter, and I deeply appreciate your patience and unwavering support during my absence.

"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."

As the wisest man that ever lived, Solomon might have experienced such before writing. In the sense that, everything he wrote was as a result of a situation or circumstance he went through as a king and as a man.

"Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure, hostility or antagonism towards someone or something, usually combined with an urge to harm, often stemming from perceived provocation, hurt, or threat." Anger is also the strong feeling that one has when something has happened that the person thinks is bad or unfair.

I love the second definition better. The truth is that you can't run from anger, and it won't run from you. What do you do to something you can't run from, and won't run from you? You face it. The manner in which you handle anger is what matters. It will surely come.

Proverbs 14:29 in The Living Bible, says: "A wise man controls his temper. He knows that anger causes mistakes."
It is a very understandable scripture, I just pray that as you understand, you also live what you have just understood.
If you haven't learnt how to control or master your anger, sorry to say, you're not wise. Temper is to be controlled, it is not suppose to control you, if it does you loose control of yourself, and cause mistakes.
Being slow to anger actually wins more battles than being fast to react in anger actually. Most especially when you're expected to flare up. So the heir to the throne of Israel, knew this. He knew the benefits of been slow to anger, especially when anger threw its fiery darts at him.

"...ruleth his spirit..."

A man that has charge over his spirit, is better than a man that has possession over and of a city. No matter what you have possessed, if you don't rule your spirit, you won't enjoy the benefits included in the control of your spirit.

1Cor 14:32: "And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."

Ma and Sir, your spirit is subject to you, meaning you have control over it. The same way it's possible for you choose to starve your spirit or feed it, the same way you have control over your spirit man. Try no de over do some kin things abeg! Heeding to God's will, please put a rein on yourself and spirit.

SCENE ONE- IN THE HOSTEL

[It's only 6 minutes past 4:00am. Akin is laying on his bed in the hostel; popularly known as NDDC in the University of Benin. He's thinking, he engages deeply in the art of soliloquy, as his roommates won't allow him think with their sonorous snores.]

Akin: Good Lord! Is Sis Ebun the one? That lady is nice, she's just too good. Apart from your presence, her presence is the next I anticipate in the fellowship. The way she coordinates the DCG meetings, oh Heavens! The way she dances in fellowship, the way she kabashes, kaya- shegede, her natural beauty is out of this world. Her dimples are deeeeep! I could be lost in it. Lord just a confirmation would do go a...

[Before he could complete his statement, the power of the hostel was restored; in this part of the world we know it as the 'arrival of NEPA'. Akin began smiling from ear to ear. It was at this point he decided to skillfully misinterpret the scriptures. ]

Akin: Hmm! Ephesians 1 verse 18! Hmm Hmm, I prefer the The Living Bible translation, "I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see something of the future he has called you to share..." Kaiiiii! The Spirit is one! So God, you allowed my heart to be flooded with light of understanding first, then my room to be flooded with light, as a confirmation, so I can see someone(Ebun) of the future that you have called me to share. As it is known that marriage is all about unity and oneness, Kaiiiii, I feel fayurrr in my bones!

[It's at situations as this, I wish the Holy Spirit can physically slap. Akin is praying in tongues, and the only understandable thing he says is Ebun, in a tonguing manner. He concludes his tonguing and starts speaking his thoughts, as he prepares for his morning paper by 8am. ]

Akin: Thank you Jesus! Ah! It's past 7am! I had plans to read my books and Bible o. You sure say I no go write Ebun for exam so? Wait o! I spent 3 hours thinking about Ebun? Haba na Bro Akin, get a hold of yourself. Where my brush de sef, Omo I g*t prepare sharp sharp o, this course na strong meat. Well, there's nothing that God cannot do.

[As he started preparing, he began to play Pastor Iren's Grace Changes Everything, singing loud and off key, waking his roommates who wish to beat him up. ]

Akin: We're soaring in your grace ,We're soaring in your grace, we're soaring in your grace, in your grace, in your grace...!

[He leaves the hostel, then rushes to the venue for his paper. ]

SCENE TWO - DCG MEETING VENUE AT NDDC.

[The assistant coordinator of the DCG at NDDC was rounding up the prayer session, the atmosphere was very hot, almost everyone were dripping wet like they each had a contact with the Sun. Some were still muttering few words under their breath. Osas tried to speak more audibly to address the members. ]

Osas: Praise God!
Everyone: Hallelujah!
Osas: The Lord has begun great and marvellous things in our midst. I can still feel his presence all around. So without further ado, I'll be calling the 'coordi', Sis. Ebun to come and share with us, before we round up and go home. A round of applause please!

[Everyone g*thered clapped so much that the sound really travelled far to those by the road close to the hostel. Cheering and calling out happily. ]

Everyone: Coordi Coordi! Sis Ebun!

[As Sis. Ebun walked to the front, everything and everyone became slo-mo to Akin. As briskly as she walked, Akin had already carefully studied her, head to toe. To himself he said. ]

Akin: God! Even without smiling much, she captivates me. See her decent skirt; it's even my favourite colour. She can dress ehn, I'll be well addressed in future. I sense it!

[Akin was still thinking, not knowing Sis. Ebun had prayed and called the scripture, luckily she repeated it. ]

Ebun: We're reading from the book of Psalms, chapter 16 verse 4a. Bro Akin, please read for us sir.

[Pointing to Akin, made goosebumps appear as he opened the pages of the scripture.]

Akin: "Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another God... "

[His countenance fell, of course he knows the meaning of the scripture, he couldn't dare misinterpret this one. It was for him! ]

Ebun: Please can you read it in the TPT sir?

[Akin glances at the scripture and is vexed within him. He feels attacked, very very attacked. Rather slowly he continued. ]

Akin: "Yet there are those who yield to their weaknesses,...

[There is a comma in the verse, but the pause Akin took was very unusual. He continued reading.]
..and they will have troubles unending.

Ebun: God bless you Bro. Akin. You see, many Christians have decided to replace God in our hearts with either something or someone. Who or what do you think about too often, what or who fills your mind the most? Our God is a jealous God. He doesn't want to share his place in your life. Whatsoever you devote yourself wholly, be it in thoughts or something else, is a god to you at that moment. It might be a sister, brother, academics. Yes academics, God wants you to focus on him and submit in totality. The time you use to think on unprofitable things, give to God.
Don't yield to your weakness, you're human, but it will just cause multiplication of your sorrows. It's my prayer that God will help us to make him the only true God. The rest are counterfeits. Let's pray.

[Everyone bows their heads down to pray, as Bro Akin is summoned to round up the prayer.Don't worry, you're not the only one laughing.]

Please there is only one God, don't give his place to another.
