With Chinyere Philomena – I'm on a streak! I've been a top fan for 22 months in a row. 🎉

Upon my return from the hospital with our newborn, I discovered that my husband had replaced the locks. Just twenty hours later, he appeared, pounding on the gate and shouting, "This is life or death!"

Richie, my husband, and I had eagerly awaited the arrival of this baby. He was present during the birth, but a minor complication required me to remain at the hospital for an additional two days.

When we were finally discharged, Richie was nowhere to be found. I took a drop back home alone, accompanied only by our baby daughter, and was stunned to find the locks had been changed.

I stood there, bewildered, unable to fully grasp the situation I was facing.

No warning. No argument. No "we need to talk." It felt like a terrible misunderstanding.

I knocked once. Then I knocked again, harder this time. My heart ached, my legs trembled from labor, and sleep deprivation blurred my thoughts.

At last, footsteps were heard.

The deadbolt remained locked.

Instead, his voice filtered through the door — detached and distant, as if I were a stranger to him.

"I need space," he stated.

Initially, I couldn't help but laugh; it all seemed so ridiculous.

"Space?" I echoed. "I just gave birth. This is our home. Let me in."

Complete silence followed.

Then, more softly, "Praise, please don’t make this harder."

My newborn emitted a faint cry, and instinctively, I tightened my embrace around her. I stood there shivering.

I called him, but it went straight to voicemail.

I sent a WhatsApp. No response.

Waking my mom wasn’t something I wanted to do. I didn't want the neighbors to see me in such a vulnerable state.

So I opted for the only solution available.

I summoned a Bolt and headed directly to my sister's flat.

That night proved restless. I found myself fixated on my baby's delicate face, struggling with how Richie could turn so cruelly in such a short time.

The following morning, I craved answers… yet I knew that what Richie had done to me and our newborn would be nearly impossible to forgive.

Then I heard it — loud banging on the front door.

And my sister's voice, sharp and filled with anger:

"Get out of here, Richie! You should be ashamed of yourself!"

"I'm not leaving until I talk to Praise!" he yelled back. "This is life or death!" ⬇️
