The BlackBerry has become another relic of a bygone era as it ceases its legacy software support for all devices today.

That means if you currently own a BlackBerry phone, you won't be able to use it. However, newer Blackberry devices running on Android software will continue to work for now.

The company in a statement said, "As of this date, devices running these legacy services and software through either carrier or wifi connections will no longer reliably function, including for data, phone calls, SMS and 911 functionality."

At its peak in the 2000's, the iconic BlackBerry with it's physical QWERTY keypad was a favourite among executives.

But it's popularity declined when touch screen smartphones like the iPhone entered the market.
