Breaking: Rivers Youth Leader Defends Osun APC Senator Over Controversial Remarks

A Rivers State youth leader, Comrade Clifford Nwabueze, has come to the defense of Osun East APC Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi following backlash over comments that were widely interpreted as a call for violence.

The controversy erupted after a video circulated online showing Fadahunsi addressing supporters in Ilesa ahead of the Osun State governorship election. In the video, the senator used language that critics said sounded like a threat against members of the opposition Accord Party.

But Nwabueze says the senator's words were misunderstood.

According to the Rivers youth leader, Fadahunsi was not calling for anyone to be attacked or killed. Rather, he said the senator was using political language to urge APC supporters to turn out in large numbers and defeat the opposition at the polls.

“Senator Fadahunsi’s words were taken out of context by many Nigerians,” Nwabueze said. “What he meant was that we will vote massively to defeat the opposition. It was a metaphorical expression urging APC supporters to secure victory through peaceful and democratic means, not through violence.”

Nwabueze described the criticism of the senator as an overreaction and urged Nigerians to focus on the issues at stake instead of interpreting campaign rhetoric as a literal call for violence.

Fadahunsi has also explained that his remarks were metaphorical and were intended to refer to defeating political opponents with votes, not physically attacking them.

Nwabueze called on politicians and their supporters to promote peaceful elections and reject violence, stressing that political differences should be settled through the ballot box and other democratic processes.
