IN DEFENCE OF GOVERNOR BASSEY OTU: LET US BE FAIR TO THE MAN CLEANING UP THE MESS

Let us tell the truth as it is.

When Governor Bassey Edet Otu took over in 2023, he did not inherit a government. He inherited ruins. Ayade left behind unpaid salaries, abandoned projects, a mountain of debt, and a civil service that was completely broken. Anyone who is honest knows that you cannot fix eight years of destruction in two years.

For the first time in a long time, Cross River has a governor who listens. A governor who is not chasing vanity projects like Ayade did, but is quietly rebuilding the foundations. Workers are being paid. Pensioners are being remembered. The streets of Calabar are cleaner. Confidence is returning.

Criticism is good, but let us not pretend that Governor Otu is Ayade. He is not. Otu came with goodwill from the people, and he has not betrayed that goodwill. He is a calm, humane leader who believes in due process, not noise-making governance.

Yes, federal allocation has increased, but so have the debts Ayade left behind that must be serviced. A responsible leader does not pour new money into a leaking basket. He first blocks the leak, and that is what Otu is doing.

We wanted a system that works. That system is being rebuilt step by step. General Hospital Calabar, roads, schools - these things take planning, budgeting, and time, not Facebook posts.

Let us support Governor Otu to succeed. Cross River cannot afford another cycle of tearing down its own leaders out of impatience. Give the man room to work, and Cross River will rise again.

A QUINTESSENTIAL NARRATIVE ENCOMIUM TO SIR ALEXANDER SAMUEL EDIOMO ON HIS BIRTHDAY

On the 23rd of July, the calendar itself seems to pause and smile, because on this day a principled man was born whose life has become a lesson book for everyone around him.
Sir Alexander Samuel Ediomo to many, simply Mr. Ediomo Alexander is not just a name on a school register. He is a movement in human form.
From a very tender age, he found his voice in a classroom. While others were still figuring out their path, young Alexander was already standing before students, chalk in his hand and purpose in his eyes. Twenty-one years later, that early spark has grown into a blazing legacy. Twenty-one years of teaching, not because it was easy, but because resilience, doggedness, and determination refused to let him quit. Colleagues watched, students testified, and friends celebrated when that same commitment lifted him to the office of a Principal. It was an elevation so well deserved that people didn’t just call him Principal. They began calling him the 21st Century Principal. He is a man who blends tradition with vision, discipline with warmth.
Extensively speaking, warmth is exactly what defines him. Sir Alexander is jovial and principled to the core. You will find him laughing with students on the field during football practice, then two hours later, deep in a book, preparing the next lesson or studying case law. Because yes, he is also a teacher, a coach, a school administrator, and a lawyer in the making. He believes the law and the classroom are not so different: both require truth, fairness, and the courage to stand for what is right.

Above all his titles, the one he wears with the quietest pride is “DAD.”😭😭😭 As a single father, he adores his son with a devotion that teaches more than any syllabus ever could. His son depends on him, and he, in turn, builds his world around that responsibility.
Boy recover fast daddy loves you so much.

More so, that same devotion spills into service. Through Faith and Work, Sir Alexander has earned a series of awards that line his office, but he will tell you that the real award is seeing a child graduate. His heart for community has also drawn him into public life. Today he serves as the Publicity Secretary of Ward 5, the Coordinator of ZUKY 2027 Ward 5, the Minister of Information for Mkparawa’s Forum, the Head of Media for the Great Cabal Organization, and the Chairman Planning Committee for Governor Otu’s Bakassi Grass Root Cup an initiative led by the incoming House of Assembly Member for Bakassi State Constituency, Mr. Andrea Ekeng.

Sir Alexander Samuel A teacher, mentor, administrator, advocate, father. In every role, he shows up early, stays late, and leaves people better than he found them.

Sir Alexander Samuel Ediomo, today i celebrate not just the years you have spent, but the lives you have shaped in those years.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE PEDAGOGICAL INSTRUMENT OF THIS GENERATION

BAKASSI LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN ALONG WITH THE CHAPTER CHAIRMAN ADDRESSES ALL WARD EXCO ON THE IMPORTANCE OF VOTERS REGISTRATION

The chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area addresses Ward executives from all 10 wards of Bakassi Local Government on the 16th July 2026 as regards to the importance of voters registration as God have it even when the weather tried to be an impediment the atmosphere was one of purpose.

The Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Hon. Effiong Okon. Beside him was the Chapter Chairman, Hon. Nsemin. The agenda was clear on Voters Registration and mobilization ahead of the general election.

Hon. Effiong Okon opened his address by stressing why the exercise matters. He told the EXCO members that voter registration is the foundation of political strength. He called on them to stand firm on the mandate of the ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS, and to work with one goal in mind: ensuring that all 5 candidates of the party are returned in the upcoming general election.

He emphasized that this can only happen through cooperation and through our voting strength,. He extensively stated that when we vote together and in numbers, Bakassi will not just participate. Bakassi will stand out at the state level and at the national level."

The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Nsemin, followed with his own charge. Speaking with authority, he reminded the ward leaders that this election is not one to be begged for. "This is an election we will win with a gap," he stated. "And that gap will come from our voting strength, from ward to ward, from unit to unit."

He urged every ward EXCO to give their best and to 'mark the party' in their respective wards, meaning to deliver the votes and protect the party’s interests on the ground.

Hon. Effiong Okon returned to close on a note of assurance. He emphasized that the Governor’s second term will be a term of social development for Bakassi. He congratulated the EXCO members for their commitment, and he also congratulated the Governor for standing with Bakassi and for believing in the people despite all odds. "For that belief, a job well done," he said.

By the time the meeting came to a close, the mood was light. There were no arguments, no tensions. The ward executives left with smiles on their faces, carrying the message back to the 10 wards:
1) REGISTER
2) MOBILIZE
3) DELIVER
