APWENCAL 2025 ENGINEERING WEEK
Day 1: Sporting Activities at the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium with Fitness International.

The Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria (APWEN) Calabar Chapter celebrated International Women in Engineering Day on June 27, 2025, with a FunSTEM Competition titled "Introducing a Girl to Engineering".

This event aimed to encourage girls to pursue careers in engineering and was held in Yakurr Local Government Area, targeting selected secondary schools from various communities within the local government.

Competition Highlights:
Participating Schools: Eleven secondary schools participated, showcasing their STEM skills and knowledge.

Winners:
First Position: Government Secondary School Ntinton, Ekori, won the grand prize - a set of science textbooks for their school library.
Second Position: Community Secondary School Nko.
Third Position: Girls Secondary School Ugep.
Prizes: Cash prizes were awarded to students from the schools who secured the first, second, and third positions respectively.

This event aligns with APWEN's vision to promote engineering careers among girls. By taking this initiative to the hinterland of Cross River State, APWEN Calabar Chapter aims to empower young girls in these areas to explore STEM fields.

Special thanks to the Chairman of Yakurr L.G.A. Hon. Yibala Igri for hosting the event, and to Sermatech Nig. Ltd. for funding it.

It was a very interactive session as APWENCAL Celebrates International Women's Day with students of Edgerley Memorial Girls Secondary School with the theme .
