The Birthday Gift He Never Expected

Michael turned 18 on a rainy morning. He checked his phone every few minutes, hoping friends would remember his birthday.

Hours passed.

Only a few messages came. No party. No gifts. No visitors.

Feeling forgotten, he decided to take a walk. As he passed a hospital, he saw an elderly man sitting alone in a wheelchair, staring out the window.

Michael stopped and greeted him.

The old man smiled and said, “Today is my birthday too.”

They spent the next hour talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Before Michael left, the old man held his hand and said, “Thank you. Today, you were the only person who celebrated with me.”

Michael walked home with tears in his eyes.

That evening, he realized something important: while he had spent the day wishing people would make him feel special, he had accidentally made someone else feel loved.

It became the most meaningful birthday of his life.
