Yesterday,I had the privilege of commissioning the Modern Toilet Facility at Oye Market, Neni, as part of our ongoing efforts to modernise our markets and provide essential public infrastructure that directly improves the daily experience of our people.
This facility may appear simple, but to me, it represents something much bigger. Good governance is also about paying attention to the basic needs and dignity of our people.
For too long, the lack of adequate public conveniences in some of our markets has contributed to the unfortunate practice of open urination and defecation. Apart from creating an unpleasant environment, this constitutes a serious health and environmental concern for our traders, buyers, residents and visitors.
We must continue to change this narrative.
With the commissioning of this facility, traders and buyers at Oye Market can now access a clean, decent, safe and convenient place to attend to their needs without having to resort to public spaces.
This is, however, not the first of such facilities we have provided in Anaocha. We have already commissioned a similar modern toilet facility at Agulu Market, and we will continue to identify areas where basic infrastructure can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people.
For me, providing these facilities is not merely about constructing toilets. It is about modernising our markets, improving public hygiene, protecting the environment and restoring dignity to our public spaces.
A market that is modern and conducive for business must also have the basic amenities that traders and buyers need.
This is another practical expression of our Greater Anaocha vision—an Anaocha where development is visible, purposeful and connected to the everyday needs of our people.
As we continue to improve our markets and public infrastructure, I equally appeal to our traders, market leaders and users to take ownership of these facilities. Let us use them properly, keep them clean and protect them as community assets. Government can provide the infrastructure, but its sustainability depends on our collective responsibility.
Today, we have taken another step towards putting an end to open defecation and indiscriminate urination in our markets.

And today, once again, we are demonstrating that when we put the needs of our people at the centre of governance, a Greater Anaocha is not just a vision—it is a work in progress that we can all see and feel.
Today, as Anambra State marks 35 years since its creation on 27 August 1991, I join Ndi Anambra at home and in the diaspora to celebrate the remarkable journey of a State whose story is defined by resilience, enterprise, ingenuity and an unwavering determination to excel.
For me, this anniversary is more than a celebration of the passage of time. It is an opportunity to reflect on our journey as a people and to acknowledge the succession of leaders and administrators whose different chapters have collectively shaped the Anambra we know today.
Anambra was created on 27 August 1991 by the administration of the then Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, with Navy Captain Joseph Abulu serving as its first Military Administrator. He was followed by Chief Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who became the first elected Governor of the newly created State in 1992.
The years that followed brought successive military administrations under Dabo Aliyu, Mike Attah, Rufai Garba and Emmanuel Ukaegbu, before the return to democratic governance in 1999 ushered in Chief Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju and subsequently Senator Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige.
The democratic era further brought significant chapters under Mr Peter Obi, Dame Virginia Etiaba, Senator Andy Uba and Chief Willie Obiano. Each administration, within the circumstances and challenges of its time, contributed in one way or another to the political, infrastructural, economic and social evolution of our dear State.
Today, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, leads Anambra. Since assuming office on 17 March 2022, his administration has pursued an ambitious agenda centred on security, infrastructure, economic transformation, education, healthcare, human capital development and the broader vision of making Anambra a more liveable and prosperous homeland.
As we celebrate 35 years, I believe we must look beyond political boundaries and partisan considerations. We must appreciate those who came before us, acknowledge the contributions of the present generation and recognise that the responsibility for the next chapter of Anambra's story belongs to all of us.
As Mayor of Anaocha, I am particularly convinced that the real measure of development is what happens at the grassroots — in our villages, communities, markets, schools, health centres and homes. The progress of Anambra must ultimately be reflected in the wellbeing of our people and the quality of life in our communities.
From Anaocha to every corner of Anambra, our greatest asset remains our people: industrious, creative, resilient and deeply committed to the progress of our communities.
At 35, therefore, the story of Anambra is not simply about the years that have passed. It is the story of a people who have repeatedly transformed challenges into opportunities, setbacks into new beginnings and adversity into renewed determination.
The task before us now is to build on the foundations laid by those who came before us and create an even stronger future — a future anchored on unity, responsible citizenship, innovation, peace, inclusive governance and sustainable development.
As Anambra celebrates 35 years, my message is simple: the journey continues, the responsibility is collective, and the future remains bright.
On behalf of the people of Anaocha, I wish all Ndi Anambra a happy 35th Anniversary of the creation of our dear State.

I am pleased to inform and invite the general public, Ndi-Anaocha, distinguished stakeholders, party faithful and all well-meaning persons to the commissioning of two important projects in our communities on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
At 10:00 a.m., I will be at Nkwo market, Adazi-Enu for the commissioning of the Open Stalls, constructed by my administration as part of our infrastructural interventions in the community. I am particularly delighted about this project because, once put to use, it will provide additional space for commerce and help to stimulate economic activities and improve the livelihoods of our people.
Thereafter, at 1:00 p.m., I will join our people at Umubialla Village, Agulu, for the commissioning of the Umubialla Village Health Centre, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project designed to strengthen access to healthcare for the people of the community and surrounding areas.
These projects are a further expression of our commitment to the Greater Anaocha Vision—a vision that continues to birth projects that add tangible value to our communities and to Anaocha as a whole.
As long as we remain in office, we will continue to work, build and deliver. The good works continue.
I therefore encourage Ndi-Anaocha, stakeholders, party faithful and the general public to turn out en masse and join me in celebrating these important milestones in our journey towards Building a Greater Anaocha.

I am delighted to invite Ndi-Anaocha and the general public to the commissioning of another Solar-Powered Borehole Project in Aguluzoigbo, one of the communities in our dear Anaocha Local Government Area.
The commissioning will take place tomorrow, Thursday, 20th August 2026, at 12:00 noon, at Iruowelle Village Hall, Aguluzoigbo.
As Mayor of Anaocha, I will personally commission this important project as part of our deliberate commitment to providing basic amenities that directly improve the lives of our people.
With this project, access to clean and reliable water is now being extended across the ten communities of Anaocha. Water is life, and ensuring that our people have access to clean water is not a luxury; it is a fundamental responsibility of responsive and people-centred governance.
This is one of the practical dividends of good governance: identifying the everyday needs of our people and providing sustainable solutions that make a meaningful difference in their lives.
From solar-powered water projects to other interventions across our communities, we are steadily building an Anaocha where development is not merely spoken about but seen, felt and experienced by the people.
I warmly invite Ndi Anaocha, community leaders, stakeholders, friends of Anaocha and the general public to join me as we commission this project and celebrate another step towards A Greater Anaocha.

I am delighted to announce the commencement of another round of our Skill Acquisition Programme, with registration set to begin on 6th August at the Anaocha Local Government Podium.
This initiative is a key component of my Greater Anaocha Vision, which is centred on transforming our young people into productive, self-reliant citizens rather than leaving them vulnerable to idleness. My administration remains committed to equipping our youths with practical and marketable skills that will empower them to become economically independent, contribute meaningfully to society, and ultimately create employment opportunities for others.
You will recall that in May 2025, over 500 youths across Anaocha successfully completed intensive training in various vocational skills and were empowered to begin their entrepreneurial journeys. That milestone reinforced our belief that investing in human capital is one of the most effective ways to build a prosperous and resilient Anaocha. Today, we are determined to sustain that momentum by expanding opportunities for even more young people. Beyond the personal economic benefits to the participants, this programme will strengthen our local economy and contribute to the overall development of our communities.
This initiative also aligns with the youth-focused vision of our Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, whose administration has continued to inspire hope through the transformative 1Youth-2Skills Programme, which has positively impacted thousands of young people across Anambra State. At the grassroots, we are proudly complementing that vision by establishing modern Skill Acquisition Centres across Anaocha. The centres are at Agulu, Neni, and Akwaeze. That of Agulu is operable, since it was first built before the other two. The Neni centre is fully completed and ready for commissioning, while the Akwaeze centre is nearing completion.
I therefore encourage every interested young person in Anaocha to seize this opportunity by registering and participating in the programme. Together, we will build a generation of skilled, innovative, and economically empowered youths who will drive the future of our local government.

The arrival of August marks more than the beginning of another month; it is a symbolic reminder of resilience, harvest, renewal, and fresh possibilities. Historically named after Augustus Caesar, the month has come to represent strength, achievement, and enduring leadership. It also stands as a reminder that every season offers a new opportunity to reflect on the past, consolidate our gains, and pursue even greater accomplishments. As we welcome August 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt best wishes to every son and daughter of Anaocha.
This new month calls us to embrace renewed hope, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the continued growth and development of our beloved Local Government. It is another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of our unity, deepen our collective resolve, and work together in building a more peaceful, prosperous, and progressive Anaocha.
I sincerely appreciate your steadfast support, prayers, and confidence in my administration. Your trust continues to inspire me and remains the driving force behind my commitment to purposeful, transparent, and people-centred leadership. Together, we have recorded meaningful progress, and together, we shall continue to chart a brighter future for our people.
I encourage every son and daughter of Anaocha to remain law-abiding, promote peace, uphold mutual respect, and actively support initiatives that foster sustainable development across our communities. Our shared vision can only be realised through unity, cooperation, and a collective determination to place the common good above individual interests.
As we journey through this historic month, I pray that August 2026 will usher in divine favour, abundant blessings, sound health, renewed strength, open doors, and remarkable achievements for every family, business, and community in Anaocha. May this month reward our hard work, crown our aspirations with success, and fill our hearts with hope for even greater possibilities.
Together, we shall continue to build the Greater Anaocha of our collective dreams.

Today, I join the good people of Anaocha Local Government Area in celebrating an exceptional woman of grace, compassion, and purpose, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, as she marks another glorious year of God's faithfulness.
Today, I celebrate not only the First Lady of Anambra State but also a devoted mother, a compassionate humanitarian, and an outstanding ambassador of selfless service whose life continues to inspire hope and transform lives across our dear state.
Over the years, I have watched with admiration your unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable members of our society. Through your numerous humanitarian interventions, advocacy programmes, and people-centred initiatives, you have continued to complement the transformational leadership of His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, by bringing governance closer to the people through compassion and practical service.
I am particularly inspired by your Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, which has grown beyond a health campaign into a statewide movement for wellness, healthy nutrition, environmental cleanliness, regular physical exercise, and responsible living. This visionary programme has significantly shaped the lifestyle of Ndi Anambra, encouraging families to embrace healthier habits while promoting preventive healthcare as the foundation of a productive society.

Indeed, your passion for wellness continues to inspire individuals, families, schools, and communities to make healthier choices for a better future.
Your consistent advocacy for healthy living, environmental sustainability, strong family values, women empowerment, and youth development has made you a shining example of purposeful leadership. You have demonstrated that true leadership is measured not merely by position but by the positive impact made in the lives of ordinary people. Your humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to humanity have earned you the love and admiration of Ndi Anambra, who proudly celebrate you as Mama Anambra and Mmili Gulu Egu.
