BTVET HOSTED NABTEB, DEEPENS COLLABORATION ON TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN EDO

The Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET), led by Chairman Barr. (Mrs) Onomen Briggs, yesterday hosted the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, alongside top officials of the Board, in a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Edo State.

Discussions focused on accreditation of technical schools, capacity building, artisan certification, skills development, quality assurance, and strengthening collaboration towards youth empowerment and economic growth.

Barr. Mrs. Onomen Briggs commended Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo for his commitment to youth development through the SHINE Agenda, noting that the administration’s investment in skills acquisition and technical education is repositioning Edo youths for self-reliance and global competitiveness.

The NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting Edo State in ensuring international best practices in technical and vocational education.

The Executive Chairman, Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET), alongside the Functioning Board Secretary and members of staff, attended the inauguration of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Clubs organized by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with Edo state Ministry of Education across Edo South Senatorial District.

Students of Benin Technical College were among the 100 students inaugurated and empowered to serve as advocates against Gender-Based Violence in schools and communities.

The event featured sensitization talks on GBV prevention and response, presentations on empowering learners as champions against GBV, as well as spoken word and drama performances by students.

The initiative reinforces the collective commitment to promoting safer schools, protecting learners, and encouraging students to speak up against all forms of abuse and violence.

Today, we celebrate the strength, dreams, creativity, and limitless potential of every boy child.

As we mark the 2026 International Day of the Boy Child, the Edo State Board for Technical, Vocational Education and Training reaffirms its commitment to empowering boys through quality education, skills development, mentorship, and equal opportunities for growth.

This year’s theme, “Local Actions, Global Impacts: Empowering Boys and Shaping a Better Tomorrow,” reminds us that the investments we make in our boys today will shape a stronger, safer, and more prosperous society tomorrow.

The event, held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, brought together heads of education boards, top government functionaries, and stakeholders in the education sector to celebrate initiatives aimed at empowerment, development, and educational advancement in Edo State.
