OKOWA HAS MADE DELTA LIBRARY ONE OF THE BEST - Eboh

he Delta state digital library has been described as one of the best in Nigeria. This assertion was made recently by the Director, Delta State library services, Mrs. Rosemary Eboh. She spoke when she received in audience, an ICT consultant and prolific writer, Mr. Augustine Omilo who was in her office to donate copies of his book titled “computer skill at a Glance” to the library.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Eboh expressed happiness over the fact that there are still writers like Omilo who deems it fit not only to write books under the present harsh economic climate but also contribute to the development of library services, especially at a time when many Nigerians are no longer reading.

Continuing, the library boss stated that the digital library was structured in such a way that the environment remains conducive for reading. She added that the study centre comprises of conventional or analogue section and the digital (e-library), even as there are different cubicles for different subject areas for adults and children.

On their part, both Mr. Fidelis Udumeh (Assistant Director) and Mrs. Justina Achebo (Head, collection Development) thanked the author for contributing his quota to the revival of the reading and writing culture in the country. Fidelis called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate Omilo's kind gesture as library services cannot adequately be fundedfunded by government alone.

Elated by the facilities available at the library, Mr. Augustine Omilo who is also the author of “The Joy and Influence of African Marriage” and “ The Game of Life” among other books expressed satisfaction over the efforts being made by the Delta state government towards encouraging research and learning through the provision of quality library services.
