Things never remained the same after Ada opened the pot. But it seems like there are consequences as well.

“MY HUSBAND DISAPPEARED FOR 3 YEARS… THEN I SAW HIM SELLING ROASTED CORN”
The day my husband disappeared, he kissed our two children goodbye and said,
"Ngozi, I’ll be back before sunset."
That sunset never came.
At first, I thought maybe armed robbers attacked him. I reported to the police. I called everyone. His family accused me of hiding something.
Days turned into weeks.
Weeks turned into months.
Months turned into 3 painful years.
People mocked me.
"Move on."
"He probably abandoned you."
"Maybe he found another woman."
I almost believed them.
To survive, I started selling vegetables by the roadside. Feeding two children alone was harder than I imagined. Some nights, we slept hungry.
Then one rainy afternoon, while returning from the market, I saw a man by the roadside roasting corn.
Something about the way he stood made my heart stop.
I looked closer.
My basket fell from my hand.
It was my husband.
But something was terribly wrong.
His hair was rough.
His clothes looked old.
And the confident man I once married looked… frightened.
I ran toward him.
"Emeka?!"
He turned slowly.
The roasted corn dropped from his hand.
His eyes filled with tears.
"Ngozi… please don’t come close."
I froze.
"Why?" I whispered.
He looked around nervously like someone was watching him.
Then he said words I never expected to hear:
"The people who took me are still looking for me."
My legs almost gave up.
"Took you? Who? Who took you?"
Before he could answer, a black car suddenly stopped near us.
Three men stepped out.
And the moment my husband saw them…
He started running.
One of the men shouted:
“Catch him before he tells her the truth!”
