ACOMS SET TO SUPPORT 30 STUDENTS FOR TECHEXPO 2022 CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION AIMED TOWARDS BUILDING STRONG AFRICAN STARTUPS

The students' body for School of Computing FUTA has announced its partnership with TechExpo Africa to support its students attend the 2022 International Conference.
In the exact words of the ACOMS President, he explained “ via the partnership, supports would be available to discount registration fee for 30 of our students who would be attending physically. They will be paying N3,000 instead of the regular N5,000.
“ This is one of the ways we are supporting rising start ups from ACOMS.”
TCP Media also learnt that the conference would be hosted in Deja vu Hotel Akure on 18th and 19th of November. Students seat reservation would be done via https://techexpo.africa/events/tea2022-nacos/

PROF. ALESE BECOMES ACTING DEAN, SCHOOL OF COMPUTING FUTA

Following the completion of the tenure of Professor Olumide Sunday ADEWALE as the Dean of S.O.C, the university management has yesterday announced (on their verified page) Professor Boniface Kayode ALESE as the new head of the Nigeria's first ever School of Computing.
This was released alongside other newly appointments of the university.
Professor ALESE, an erudite Professor of Information Security, Department of Cyber Security FUTA, is a former Dean of The Student Affairs Division where he earned the name “Baba Ewe” due to his fatherly love and actions for the students. He is renowned beyond the Country for his professional specialisation.
It is worthy of note that the outgoing Dean, Professor ADEWALE who according to a source is currently on sabbatical leave was also the Chairman of the University's Committee of Deans. However, from the list of newly appointments of the university, the new Chairman for the Committee is the Dean, School of postgraduate studies Prof. C. Arum

EMBRACE COMPUTING INNOVATIONS AND YOU WILL BE FINE -ACOMS PRESIDENT TELLS NIGERIAN STUDENTS

The President of the Association of Computing Students (ACOMS) FUTA Chapter Comrade Suleiman Kabir popularly known as KayBee Marshall has urged all Nigerian students to embrace Computing Innovations.
He said this during a radio discussion on Saturday at SunCity 101.9FM while treating the topic “Encouraging Computing Innovations on Campus”.
In his words, “Computing is now a neccesity, it is unavoidable and there is nothing you can do about it. Embrace it and you will be fine; the earlier, the better. ”
He also highlighted some challenges that kills the students' motivation about getting involved in Computing Innovations and how his administration has been tackling this for the students under their juridition.
“As I speak with you, ACOMS Tech Community is on-going to train and equip our students for exhibition. There, they get like-minds to work on projects together.
“ Our innovation summit is also on its way, there we would have a platform for software exhibition and we are still open to Tech partners. ” he said.

NINE GRAPHICS DESIGNING BRANDS JOSTLING TO WIN ACOMS GRAPHICS CONTEST 2021

Exactly nine different graphics designing brands owned by students from School of Computing made it to the voting level of the on-going ACOMS Mini Graphics Design Contest.
The Contest was aimed at giving back to the students, encouraging creativity and skillfulness, as well as carrying the students along in decision making.
According to the information posted by the Association's Public Relations Officer (Comr. BABS), voting started yesterday evening (Sunday 10th October 2021) and would end on Tuesday. However, there have been tight competitions so far.
Designer with the highest vote would gets N5,000 cash prize, Brand Publicity and other opportunities while second winner would get a free ACOMS Vest.
Information reaching TCP Media reveals that the best design would be used for the ACOMS 2021 Vest.

The President of the Association of Computing Students Federal University of Technology Akure Chapter, Comrade Suleiman K.B. Alamu (KayBee Marshall) told members of the Association that more beneficial programs are coming. He said this via his whatsapp status shortly after the ACOMS webinar on Saturday tagged “Is Programming For Females?”.
In his words, “Our students are already using the medium [Webinar] for networking. Don't rush, we're only testing our mics and thank God they're working fine. Let everyone anticipate more”.
In an interview with TCP Media, he explained that there would be technological training programs for all, and his administration would love to have a balanced attendance hence the purpose of the webinar.
The Vice President (Comrade Mirabel) in her closing remark for the program also reaffirm that "more would come"
