SETTING OUT means marking the position where the foundation trenches for all the
walls of the building will be dug.
SETTING OUT is probably the most critical step in the entire construction process.
Everything else will depend on the setting out being accurate.
What are the things to check during and after setting out
1) The entire foundation should be set out at once if possible, rather than over several days to avoid tampering with the initial work.
2) The precise placing of the building on-site is controlled by the building line. A building line is an imaginary line that your building must not encroach.
√Highway = 45m
√Major road =30m
√ Township/street road =6m
3) You must check the diagonal of the two sides to be equal.
4) The profile board should be wider than the foundation trench by let say 1.5m to 2m but incase of a wider pad foundation type 2.5 to 3m will be ok.
5) Every corner of the building must be square and double-check.
6) The supervisor must check and double-check every angle and measurement personally.
7)Obtain approval from a higher authority before excavation.
