On February 17โ18, 2026, DDI convened a two-day intensive Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) Training designed to deepen our institutional capacity to integrate nutrition into agricultural programme design and delivery. The training went beyond theory. Through coaching, joint activities, practical exercises, and hands-on use of the NSIS tool, our team strengthened its understanding of agricultureโnutrition linkages, food systems pathways, measurable indicators, and practical entry points for integration.
--
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Ikore and Tanager IGNITE+ team for delivering a thoughtful, practical, and deeply engaging learning experience. Our gratitude also goes to the funders and partners whose commitment to capacity strengthening ensures that programmes are not only implemented โ but implemented with depth, rigour, and measurable impact.
--
We also commend our staff who committed two days โ fully immersed in learning, reflection, and application. Their dedication reflects DDIโs culture: we do not only deliver development interventions; we continuously strengthen ourselves to deliver them better, because at DDI, training is not an event. It is a commitment to excellence, accountability, and sustainable impact.

From Garden to Table: Celebrating the Conclusion of the GAIN-SNiPS Home Garden Project!
-----
Weโre thrilled to share the fantastic results from the GAIN SNiPS Home Garden Initiative, where Diamond Development Initiatives (DDI) served as the implementing partner. This heart-centred project directly reached 21,414 households in Benue, Kaduna, and Nasarawa, giving families the knowledge and tools to grow their own nutritious food.
By training local Lead Farmers and promoting innovations like sack gardening and composting, weโve ensured these gardens keep thriving long into the future. With 71% female beneficiaries, we leveraged the power of women to make family nutrition a long-term priority.
One farmer noted how having the garden has reduced her family's need to travel or shop for vegetables. This is more than just farming; it's about making healthy diets safe, accessible, and sustainable for Nigerian families.
Thank you to Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition Nigeria and all our local partners for this successful collaboration!

DDI Concludes GAIN-SNiPS Home Garden Initiative Across 3 States
---
Diamond Development Initiatives (DDI) is proud to announce the successful completion of its role as the implementing partner for the Home Garden component of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Strengthening Nutrition in Priority Staples (SNiPS) Project in Nigeria. For the past three years, this vital initiative has empowered 21,414 households across Benue, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states by boosting their capacity to grow and consume safe, nutrient-dense foods.
Key Achievements and Impact
The projectโs primary goal was to assist smallholder farmers and farm workers in the rice and maize value chains to make healthier dietary choices through improved access to and consumption of nutritious foods. Key achievements include:
--- Expanded Reach and Empowerment: The initiative networked 21,414 households, surpassing the original target of 20,000. Notably, women consistently formed the majority of participants, accounting for 71%, which is crucial for garden maintenance and long-term success.
--- Capacity Building: DDI conducted comprehensive capacity building sessions by training 102 Extension Agents (EAs) and 480 Lead Farmers on Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), nursery management, nutrition education, among other relevant skills. These master trainers, in turn, delivered step-down training to 21,033 households.
--- Infrastructure and Inputs: A total of 102 demonstration plots were established, serving as vital practical learning centres. Furthermore, 21,305 households received essential inputs like improved seeds (amaranth, tomato, pepper, okra), liquid organic fertiliser, and Vitamin A-rich Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) vines.
--- Innovative Farming: The project actively promoted innovative, climate-smart solutions. Techniques such as sack gardening were introduced to overcome challenges like cramped spaces, poor soil, and rigid garden layouts, offering a budget-friendly way for families to secure year-round fresh produce.

Today, we stand on the precipice of a new era as Diamond Development Initiatives (DDI) marks its 23rd Anniversary โ a monumental milestone in our unwavering commitment to Nigeriaโs sustainable future. From our inception in 2002 with just five dedicated staff, DDI has grown into a powerful, nationwide engine for change, driven by a profound Mission: To build a society that provides equitable opportunities for self-actualization through economic empowerment and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
We have remained unwavering in our vision to create a society where everyone has an equitable opportunity for self-actualization โ and this vision is daily being actualized through a disciplined and elegant bottom-up development philosophy. We ensure that our benefitting communities are not passive recipients, but active participants in their own upliftment, guaranteeing ownership and lasting impact.
Over the past two decades, DDIโs influence has spanned 29 States and the FCT, directly impacting the lives of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians and demonstrating unparalleled resilience.
Our success stories are etched in the fabric of Nigeriaโs grassroots economy:
- Agricultural Transformation: We have positively impacted over 620,000 smallholder farmers/households by enhancing productivity, facilitating market access, and strengthening the agricultural value chain, ensuring food security and increased incomes.
- Enterprise Development: We have supported over 25,000 farmer/cooperative groups, SMEs, youth, and women entrepreneurs, equipping them with the business acumen necessary to succeed, grow, and innovate, creating thousands of jobs.
- Sustainable Energy Access: By championing Renewable Off-Grid Energy solutions, we have partnered with and scaled up over 60 local energy entrepreneurs to light up unserved communities, enabling businesses to thrive long after sunset.
- Youth Empowerment: Through rigorous Youth Employability & Entrepreneurship Development programs, we are preparing the next generation of Nigerian leaders with hands-on, industry-relevant skills.
- Accountable Development: Our specialized Grants Management and M&E Services ensure the highest standards of transparency and effectiveness, guaranteeing impactful and accountable development outcomes for our valued partners.
As we commemorate this auspicious occasion, our gaze is fixed firmly on the future. DDI is repositioning to play an even more critical role in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), deepening our focus on prevailing global issues like Climate Change and the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture practices.
We envision a future of expanded reach, starting with strategic growth into the sub-Western African region, sharing our proven model of equitable empowerment with more communities across the continent.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated staff, esteemed partners and committed supporters. Your dedication is the fuel for our success.
Here's to 23 years of dedication, impact, and resilience, and to forging a future where every Nigerian can thrive!

Strengthening Ties for Greater Impact!
------
Today, at our Head Office in Abuja, we were delighted to host representatives from Tanager, a seasoned development organization that works to connect people, partners, and markets to create equitable, inclusive systems that improve lives and livelihoods.
The visiting team was comprised of Maureen Munjua, Country Representative, Kenya; Margaret Ngetha, Partnerships Manager, IGNITE+; and Kemi Asuni, Gender Expert, and portfolio lead IGNITE+. Nigeria. They were received by DDIโs Executive Director, Adamu Garba, alongside Afis Adeola Olaoye (Head, Finance & Administration), and other staff members.
This visit follows an earlier engagement by the IGNITE+ team, led by Kemi Asuni, to initiate DDIโs onboarding into the IGNITE+ Capacity Building initiative โ an effort aimed at strengthening institutional capacity for greater development impact.
During this courtesy visit, both organisations shared insights on their work, areas of focus, and mutual interests, while exploring potential opportunities for collaboration in empowering communities, promoting gender inclusion, and enhancing sustainable livelihoods across Nigeria and beyond.
We are truly grateful to Maureen, the Tanager team and the IGNITE+ initiative โ for their visit and for recognising the work we do at DDI. We look forward to building a meaningful partnership that leverages our shared vision of driving inclusive growth and lasting change...

Last week, DDI was honored to be represented at Tanager and Inspire Decisionsโ IGNITE+ Stakeholder Engagement Meeting โ held on June 4th at Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos. Our representative joined fellow African agricultural institutions to:
ยท Gain insights on the IGNITE+ local service provider approach
ยท Share best practices on gender-integrated, nutrition-sensitive programming
ยท Identify pathways for collaboration toward food-system transformation
--
In Nigeria, Tanager is working closely with Inspire Decisions Consulting and Ikore International to expand locally led technical-assistance delivery to African agricultural institutions. At DDI, we know that sustainable impact comes from strengthening local capacities, thatโs why our work in Business Support & Enterprise Management, Agricultural Value-Chain Development, Renewable/Off-Grid Energy Support, Youth Employability Enhancement, and Grants Management is so critical. By providing tailored technical assistance, we empower cooperatives, smallholder farmers, and youth entrepreneurs to build resilient, inclusive food systems that leave no one behind.
We look forward to forging new partnerships and leveraging the IGNITE+ platform to drive even greater progress toward zero hunger, gender equity, and healthy diets for all.
Stay tuned for updates on how DDI will collaborate with stakeholders to turn todayโs insights into tomorrowโs success stories!
