According to the report from SYMFONI TV, A dramatic confrontation unfolded in Gaduwa, Abuja, on Monday, November 11, 2025, when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was stopped by a Nigerian naval officer, Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, during an attempted demolition exercise.
The incident, captured in a viral video, showed a heated exchange between the minister and the young officer, who firmly stood his ground in defense of what he described as lawful property under military supervision.
During the face-off, Wike approached the officer, reportedly insisting that the land in question fell under the jurisdiction of the FCT Administration and was marked for demolition. However, Lieutenant Yerima maintained his stance, refusing to yield to the minister’s order.
The confrontation intensified as the minister attempted to assert his authority, but Yerima refused to back down. The officer stated firmly, “If you want to kill everybody, kill everybody. You cannot. You will put yourself in trouble.”
At one point, as Wike’s security aides tried to intervene, Yerima stood his ground, saying, “He’s looking to return because of what you’re doing now, because you’re an officer, you go and carry somebody’s life because you’re an officer. Nobody does that. You carry on.”
When the exchange grew more tense, Yerima maintained composure and discipline, adding, “Sir, everything, you get it. You stop.”
Wike, visibly angered, tried to silence the officer, but Yerima responded resolutely, “I’m an officer. Having shut up? Sir, you can’t shut me.”
The standoff drew the attention of onlookers, many of whom commended the naval officer for his bravery and professionalism in handling the situation without violence or intimidation.
Lieutenant Yerima’s name has since trended nationwide, with many Nigerians describing him as “gallant” and “a symbol of integrity in service.”
