In 2017, Mohammed Anas became famous after a post-match interview in South Africa where he accidentally thanked both his "wife and girlfriend" while accepting a Man of the Match award for Free State Stars. Realizing his mistake right away, he quickly corrected himself on live TV, making it one of the most talked-about moments in football.
After the clip went viral on social media, Anas explained that he sometimes calls his daughter his "girlfriend" and said he wasn't cheating. The interview became an internet meme because of how quickly the mistake happened, the panic that followed, and how naturally it all unfolded on live TV.
