Leveraging technology to promote inclusive and quality education for out-of-school children and youths in Africa
15/06/2026
On June 12, Democracy Day and Men's Mental Health Month, Wootlab Foundation, in partnership with the Future Forward Development Initiative hosted Connected Minds: Promoting Wellness in the Digital Age.
The session brought together professionals across sectors for an honest conversation about digital stress, burnout, and building healthier online habits. Our speakers, Esther Amos and Chelsea Ijie, delivered practical insights - from the RESET framework for managing digital exhaustion to setting intentional boundaries that protect our time, attention, and mental well-being.
From the conversations that unfolded, one thing was clear: many of us are navigating the digital space on autopilot, scrolling without purpose and connected without truly connecting. Sessions like this serve as a reminder that wellness is not a luxury reserved for when things fall apart; it is a daily, deliberate choice.
The conversation reminded us that in a world more connected than ever, being intentional about how we use technology is not optional - it is necessary.

We recently had the privilege of serving once again as judges at Startup 6.0, where students brought incredible energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking to the stage.
From early-stage ideas to prototypes and SME ventures, it was exciting to see students confidently present solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges. Beyond the pitches themselves, what stood out was the passion, resilience, and bold thinking displayed by every team.
At Wootlab, moments like these reinforce why partnerships with institutions really matter. Building thriving innovation ecosystems requires more than just ideas; it takes collaboration, mentorship, and platforms that give young founders the opportunity to test, refine, and showcase their solutions.
A huge congratulations to all participating teams and especially the winners across the SME, Ideation, and Prototype categories. Every founder who stepped forward demonstrated the courage to build and create.
We are proud to continue supporting the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs, and we look forward to seeing where these ideas grow from here.

A few weeks ago, Wootlab Foundation was featured on Radio Nigeria Abuja, where we shared how we are driving digital inclusion and creating real pathways to opportunity across Nigeria.
Through our collaboration with Katsina and Adamawa States, we have equipped over 15,000 young people with job-ready digital skills in high-demand areas such as data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
We are also currently implementing the American Tower Corporation’s Digital Communities Initiative across Nigeria, leading the operationalisation of 50 digital learning centres in underserved communities across 17 states. This initiative reaches an average of 2,000 beneficiaries monthly, with strong inclusion outcomes, over 47% of participants have been young women since 2025.
In addition, through our partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation since 2024, we have strengthened public sector capacity by equipping nearly 1,000 civil servants with practical digital skills to improve service delivery and efficiency.
Through our collaboration with Seplat Energy on the STEP programme in Edo and Delta States, alongside our secondary school programmes in Abuja, we have also empowered over 2,500 teachers with digital skills, tools, and innovative teaching methods, enabling them to transform classrooms and impact thousands of students nationwide.
Because digital skills are not just about technology, they are about dignity, opportunity, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

At Wootlab Foundation, every conversation about the digital economy is ultimately about people, the young person seeking opportunity, the entrepreneur building against the odds, the community waiting to be included.
Our recent feature on Global TV, by our Programmes and Partnerships Officer, Goodnews Akwaowo, was more than a discussion was more than a discussion, it was a call to action. From digital inclusion to policy, innovation to infrastructure, we spoke about what it truly takes to build a future where no one is left behind.
Because bridging the digital divide isn’t just our work, it’s our responsibility.
Through our programs, partnerships, and continuous engagements, we remain committed to equipping Nigerians with the skills, access, and opportunities they need to thrive in a digital world.
The future is digital. And it must be inclusive.

On Friday, we marked the International Day of Education with a powerful and inspiring Webinar around this year’s global theme: “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.”
We were honoured to have Funmilayo Caulcrick-Oluwapelumi, Senior Programmes Officer at AfriLabs, and Baluku Donnah, Senior Programmes Officer at AfriLabs, who shared valuable insights on the role young people play, not just as beneficiaries of education, but as active designers, innovators, and drivers of inclusive learning systems. Their thoughts challenged us to rethink education as a collaborative effort shaped by the voices and experiences of young people.
What made the session even more impactful were the contributions from our Digital Trainers, young leaders working directly in underserved communities, equipping others with essential digital skills and expanding access to opportunity. They are living proof that youth are not waiting for change; they are building it.
At Wootlab Foundations, we believe education is most powerful when it is co-created, inclusive, and future-focused. And on Friday, we saw that vision come alive.
Here’s to empowering more young people to shape the future of education. 🌍✨
