Behind the Scene of the Director's debut novel, Blackbird. She started writing this masterpiece three years ago and we are happy to share the result of her hard work and sleepless night with you all.

"Blackbird is a nice story with an Aussie feel, having less African tone or accent, despite its Nigeria settings and Nigerian Characters, and the Author being a Nigerian woman too! It reminded me of the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and other Western books I have read. If I didn't know the Author, I'd have thought I was reading an Australian or European literature.
It is a world class read!"

Netflix should turn this book (Blackbird )into a movie- Dr. Khomo.

Blackbird is a contemporary romance novella with
elements of crime/mystery. The main characters
in this novella are involved in a somewhat complex love story underpinned by an
emerging crime/corruption subplot. The plot uses its principal characters to narrate stories of subordinate characters and they make for an interesting pot of mixed feelings at the climax or rather climaxes - one for the Rowlands, and another more anti-climatic actually of Dora's.

For derivative works; I would recommend screenplay. It is worthy of Netflix, than Nollyflix. Good work, Oreoluwa.

Launch Date: June 12, 2024.

This story is a whirlwind romance that transcends continents, showing both deep emotional and challenging journey ahead for the protagonists. The story brings a modern feel of liberal in*******al relationships. Oreoluwa has outdone herself in narrating the African cry of crime, greed and inheritance. She also touched on racial lines. I'd recommend Blackbird to everyone.

Would you love a sneak peek into my upcoming debut Novel, Blackbird?
Okay, here's a glimpse into the secret of the pages.
Enjoy ❤️❤️❤️

Susan recalled her last conversation with Jane, Andy’s sister. Over the years, they had become each other’s confidante. They talked about things they couldn’t tell anyone else. She knew about Jane’s struggle to overlook Rocky’s persistent infidelity, and Jane knew about the acute loneliness caused by Andy’s neglect. Neither woman could help the other out of the pain they were in, neither woman told the other to leave their unhappy marriage and ungrateful partners, instead, they talked—sometimes for hours—over coffee and lamingtons. Other times, when things were very bad, they substituted the coffee for brandy or whiskey. Two days before their trip, Jane had texted Susan to come over to Los Varlles for a quick brunch. When she got there, a series of finger food were laid out, along with some brandy and glasses.
“Do you really want to do this?” Jane had asked her.
Susan nodded. “I feel like it’s a golden opportunity.”
Jane hesitated. “Are you not worried?”
“About the country? I hear the city is pretty safe. And our host is setting us up in a five-star hotel. I think we will be fine.”
Jane took a big gulp of her brandy as Susan watched her.
“I wasn’t talking about the country.”
“You mean the woman who’s sponsoring the trip.” Susan said in a matter-of-fact tone. Jane piped up and hurriedly began to explain.
“I think she belongs to some sort of mafia or something. She’s rich but I think her life is dangerous.”
“Who told you this? Andy?”
“Google. And, yes, Andy. Her father operates illegal refineries, apparently. Those guys are usually anti-government and operate outside of the law, according to Rocky, who knows one or two people from that part of the world.”
“You think she has an ulterior motive?”
“Perhaps. I just wish you didn’t feel like you had to do something so risky to save your marriage…”

Andy watched Dora leave the bar. He was what the British call gobsmacked. The shock left his mouth open; the card Dora had left dangled between his fingers because he didn’t have the muscle strength to grip it. Not to mention the ringing in his ears. His body was experiencing various emotions at once and he could not process them all.
“Here you go mate,” the waitress said, placing the short, stout scotch glass on a square white serviette before him. She paused to look at the human statue he had become and the followed his gaze over to the bar’s exit doors.
“A little lover’s quarrel with your lady, is it?”
Andy felt the shock ebb away from his body a little bit. He turned to look at the woman serving him. She looked more like a school matron than a waitress at a bar. Her eyes seemed kind as she waited for him to respond.
“That lady was at the bar, sat on that stool over there from morning till night for three days straight except for bathroom breaks, waiting for you apparently.”
Andy’s eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Whatever just transpired between you two shouldn’t worry you so much. She clearly adores you.”
Adores? A mirthless chuckle escaped Andy’s mouth.
“Well, thanks for that. You’re very kind,” he said.
“All part of the job mate,” she said with a smack of her lips, “don’t forget to tip your waitress,” she added with a wink.
Alone once again, he allowed his mind to roll over to the conversation he just had with Dora.
