Recycling more at home does not require much effort if you spend some time to create a comprehensive recycling system. This system starts with having places to store your recycled materials in the house, whether this is a box, bin, or bag. Keep the recycling container next to the trash can as it will remind everyone to recycle as much as possible.

Here are some simple tips to recycle more effectively at home:

1)Flatten cardboard boxes so that you can fit more recyclables into your bin. All sorts of cardboard can be recycled, even toilet and paper towel tubes.

2)All plastic bottles and shopping bags can be recycled, from water bottles to salad dressing, so put all of them in your recycling container.

3)It is not just newspapers that you can recycle at home.

4)Most metallic items in the home can be recycled, such as empty spray cans and of course, all empty soda, fruit, vegetable, and other food cans.

5)Glass can be recycled endlessly; it does not wear out after several recycling, so be sure to always recycle your glass bottles and containers.

6)Keep a space in your cupboard so that you can recycle as you are cooking or cleaning. It will make it easier for you to put the recyclables in their proper place.

If you are ever unsure about what you can recycle, you are most welcome to give us a call and we will gladly assist you with all the necessary information.

To help us and to keep down foul odors, please make sure you wash food waste off any plastic or glass food containers before putting them in the recycle bin.

Together we can make Namibia a clear and greener place!

When shopping, rather buy in bulk and minimise what will be sent to landfill; Even better, refill your reusable containers.

Make a conscious effort to purchase the most environmentally friendly packaging option. This is one way in which consumers can indicate to manufacturers that there is a definite preference for less packaging.

Good to see so many of our Schools Recycling competition participants have registered and will be taking part in Pako Kids Magazine and Tourism Supporting Conservation - TOSCO Trust's "Before and After" challenge - in support of National Clean Up day on 21 September.

We are keenly awaiting the photos showcasing their efforts -
