Some projects start with a website briefing, others start with us quietly staring at an old logo for 15 minutes before collectively agreeing that one's optical nerves deserve better.
So alongside the new website for Aloegrove, we ended up giving the logo a quick facelift. Purely because we couldn’t emotionally continue designing around the previous one.
The project quickly escalated from “let’s build a lodge website” into:
• full website design & development
• lodge photography
• complimentary virtual tours of selected rooms and main areas
• content structuring
• mobile optimisation
• and a mild amount of sunburn somewhere in the Namibian wilderness
Since we were already on location with cameras and equipment, we decided to create a few virtual tours for the lodge at no additional cost. You’ll spot them integrated into the homepage banner and accommodation pages, allowing visitors to visually explore parts of the property before even arriving.
The new website focuses heavily on visuals and atmosphere, because Aloegrove is one of those places where explaining it with text alone feels slightly unfair.
Massive thank you to the Aloegrove team for trusting us with the project and for tolerating us wandering around with cameras, drones and tripods in places where normal guests usually just relax peacefully.
Website crafted by Asylum. Built from scratch, as always.
No templates. No WordPress. No suffering.

Another one escaped from the Asylum. And this one evolved.
Over the past months, we’ve been deeply involved in one of the biggest and most ambitious branding projects we’ve ever touched. Ultimate Safaris has transformed into ultimate.earth.
This was not a simple logo refresh. This was a complete reimagining of a brand that has spent years building its reputation within Namibian tourism and conservation.
Behind the scenes were countless brainstorming sessions, presentations, strategy discussions, logo explorations, typography studies, colour experiments and moments where everybody stared at the same design for three hours questioning reality.
The real driving force behind all of this is Tristan. His passion for the tourism industry, his dedication to the company, and his vision for furthering both the Namibian tourism market and conservation sector are what ultimately pushed this transformation into existence. Most of the core ideas and direction came from him. My role was to take that vision and translate it visually into something cohesive, functional and emotionally recognisable across every touchpoint.
And those touchpoints were everywhere.
The rebrand stretched across printed guest material, merchandise, product packaging, safari items, hospitality elements, field guides, digital platforms, social media assets, internal branding and the newly rebranded website. Every single item had to feel connected to the same world and the same philosophy.
This project pushed us creatively, mentally and visually in every possible direction. But seeing it all come together has honestly been one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve had inside the Asylum.
The new websites are still on the horizon, but the transformation has officially begun.

Another one built inside the Asylum. This time, it’s for the tourism heavyweights.
We’ve just launched the new Namibia Tourism Board Events Portal:
https://events.visitnamibia.com.na/
This platform is dedicated to tourism-related events connected to Namibia. Trade shows, exhibitions, industry gatherings and participation opportunities are now managed in one clean, structured system.
But this is not just an events listing page. That would have been too polite.
Here is what is happening behind the scenes:
• NTB can create and manage events with start and end dates, venues, deadlines, participation fees, application fees and full galleries
• Applicants complete a comprehensive online application including company details, NTB registration numbers and association memberships such as FENATA or TASA
• Tourism groups can register multiple businesses under one marketing umbrella
• Multiple company representatives can be added per event
• The system automatically calculates the total payable amount
• An invoice is generated and emailed directly to the applicant
• EFT payments follow structured reference instructions so administrators can cross-check payments
• Proof of payment can be uploaded and approved by NTB administrators with banking access
In short, what used to be scattered emails, attachments and administrative gymnastics is now a structured digital workflow.
There is also a newsletter subscription module built into the CMS, collecting exportable data for use in third-party bulk email systems. Because tourism runs on communication, not guesswork.
Everything is powered by a custom content management system that keeps control, transparency and order exactly where they should be.
Structured. Efficient. Properly managed. Slightly institutional, as we prefer.
Another "quick" system successfully processed through the Asylum.

We recently completed the ProNam Collective website, a project that allowed us to step outside our usual visual language and build something deliberately refined, restrained, and different.
ProNam is a one-of-a-kind real estate platform designed around clarity, interaction, and detail. The website embraces a highly minimal black-and-white design, letting the properties take centre stage while everything else quietly supports the experience.
One of the standout features is the interactive property previews. Listing images subtly animate on mouse-over, revealing a small carousel the moment you hover, creating a fluid and engaging browsing experience without unnecessary distraction.
Every image uploaded to the platform is automatically watermarked, with the watermark permanently embedded into the JPEG itself. This adds an important layer of image protection while preserving visual quality.
The search and filtering system is fast and intuitive. Users can filter by sale or rental, property type, location, price range via a smooth slider, building size, bedrooms, bathrooms, garages, and more.
Each full listing delivers a complete experience, including expansive image galleries, downloadable PDFs, direct agent contact options, and a detailed enquiry form that emails agents directly.
As part of the project, we also designed the ProNam logo, ensuring the brand identity aligns with the platform itself: timeless, minimal, and confident.
This was a refreshing project for us and a reminder that strong digital experiences don’t need to shout. Sometimes the quietest designs make the strongest statement.

Omeya is about space, security, and a considered way of living just outside the city. The website needed to reflect that sense of calm and confidence, while clearly presenting the estate as a premium residential and lifestyle destination.
The focus of this project was clarity and flow. Content is structured to guide visitors naturally through the estate’s lifestyle offering, residential opportunities, and essential information without feeling overwhelming. Clean layouts and strong imagery allow the environment and atmosphere to speak for themselves.
Visually, the design is understated and modern. Generous spacing, a refined colour palette, and clear typography reinforce Omeya’s premium positioning while ensuring the site remains approachable and easy to navigate across all devices.
From a technical perspective, the website is fully custom-built, responsive, and designed for long-term use. The Omeya team can manage and update content easily, while performance and SEO fundamentals are built into the foundation without compromising the overall aesthetic.
This project was about creating a digital presence that feels as balanced and well-considered as the estate itself. Clear, welcoming, and built to support Omeya’s future growth.

Avenir is a place defined by quiet moments, open skies, soft light, good meals, and the steady rhythm of the bush. The challenge with this project was never to add more, but to know when to stop.
Our goal was to design a website that reflects the same sense of calm and balance found at the lodge itself. Clean layouts, generous spacing, and a natural flow allow imagery, atmosphere, and storytelling to take the lead without distraction. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced.
The website brings together accommodation, wildlife, activities, food, and scenery in a way that feels intuitive and grounded. Visitors can explore at their own pace, whether they’re browsing suites, discovering experiences like rhino tracking, or simply absorbing the mood through the galleries.
From a technical perspective, the site is fully custom-built, responsive, and structured for long-term use. Content is easy to manage, performance is optimised, and the foundation is SEO-conscious without compromising the understated feel of the design. Every element was considered with longevity and clarity in mind.
Avenir is not about excess. It’s about space, stillness, and authenticity. The website was designed to do exactly the same – to quietly invite, rather than convince.
We’re incredibly proud of this project and grateful for the trust placed in us to translate such a special place into a digital experience.

Quartz Construction is about reliability, precision, and getting the fundamentals right. The website needed to reflect exactly that – no unnecessary complexity, no visual noise, just a clear and confident digital presence that mirrors how the company operates on site.
The focus of this project was structure and clarity. Services are presented in a straightforward, easy-to-navigate way, allowing visitors to quickly understand what Quartz Construction does, the sectors they work in, and the standard they deliver. The design is clean and purposeful, supporting the content rather than competing with it.
Strong typography, balanced layouts, and a restrained colour palette give the site a professional, credible feel while ensuring it performs well across devices. The experience is fast, responsive, and intuitive, whether viewed on desktop or mobile.
Behind the scenes, the site is fully custom-built and easy to maintain, giving the Quartz Construction team full control over their content as the business grows. The structure is SEO-aware and future-ready, built to scale alongside new projects, services, and company milestones.
This project was about creating a digital foundation that works as hard as the company it represents. Clear. Dependable. Built to last.

The year January is finally over and we are officially into the rest of the year 2026! The year 2025 has been an absolutely mental and looking at the projects lined up for the upcoming months 2026 it is quite clear this year will be yet another crazy one. I am certainly loving how everything is going and appreciate the clients we have and their continuous support. After a change in Facbook’s Meta Business I got kicked out of managing Asylum’s business profile, but as you can see I have been gifted access to the padded walls of our Asylum and return to posting about recent projects and some really exciting new developments we are working on - once they go live, that is! 😉

Another brief from the Asylum. Legal meets digital, and justice looks stunning.
We’re excited to roll out the new website for Köpplinger Boltman Van Greunen, a law firm now flaunting a refreshed and polished online presence.
What we delivered:
• A clean, modern design – not the kind that makes you question whether the law even allows style.
• All-new staff photography, because every trusted face deserves a sharp headshot to match its credentials.
• The services are written in plain English, not buried in legal jargon, covering labour law, civil litigation, debt collection, and commercial representation.
• Detailed biographies for the team, reminding you these are real people, even if they know how to argue rules for a living.
• A dynamic Articles feed where the partners and shareholders share their insights.
• Empower Yourself – a sleek resource hub with case studies, Superior Court labour rulings, and external tools to help you learn and act before picking up the phone to a lawyer.
This site is all about clarity, confidence, and control, crafted for professionals, by professionals (with camera in hand).
Justice may be blind, but this website isn’t. It sees you.

Another patient checked in.
We just wrapped up a small one-pager for Moringa Penthouse Swakopmund, a luxury self-catering stay in the heart of Swakop. It’s stylish, it’s comfortable, it’s elevated - literally and figuratively.
This fully equipped 3-bedroom penthouse comes with:
• Two bathrooms
• A lounge with satellite TV
• A kitchen that does more than just boil water
• Open-plan dining area
• Dishwasher and washing machine
• Private balconies with views
• Tandem garage
• And yes, free Wi-Fi, because we’re not savages.
The main bedroom has its own bathroom, the second bedroom sleeps two, and the third has a sneaky roll-out bed for surprise guests or very short cousins.
Asylum handled the design and development of the site, took all the photography, and shot the banner video - which means this one’s entirely homegrown.
The site also features a clean bookings setup, cancellation policy, and gallery that makes you want to pack your bags before you're done scrolling.
