Telecom Namibia acknowledges the frustrations experienced by customers due to recent service interruptions, slower network performance in certain areas, and challenges affecting both fixed and mobile services.

JUST IN: Telecom Namibia signed a strategic partnership agreement with Demshi Investment Holdings to expand fibre infrastructure and improve broadband connectivity across Namibia.

According to a statement issued today, the partnership will prioritise replacing copper networks with fibre in areas affected by copper theft and vandalism to improve service reliability and reduce disruptions.

Under the agreement, Demshi will deploy and maintain the fibre infrastructure, while Telecom Namibia will use the open-access network to deliver internet services as part of efforts to accelerate fibre rollout nationwide

TACKLING COPPER THEFT WITH FIBER ROLL OUT - TELECOM NAMIBIA AND DEMSHI INVESTMENT HOLDINGS FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Telecom Namibia today officially signed a strategic partnership agreement with Demshi Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd, marking a significant milestone in advancing Namibia’s digital infrastructure and enhancing broadband connectivity nationwide. And particularly, to roll out fiber in areas that are targeted by copper thieves and vandals. This will allow the company to replace copper in hotspot areas with fiber, and this will lead to a reduction in copper theft and vandalism, ensuring a more reliable service.

• Ongwediva: Service disruption caused by infrastructure damage by a third-party road contractor.

Technical teams have been deployed to both locations and are actively working to restore services.

Service Impact: Fixed Voice and Data Services
Affected Area: Khomasdal (Windhoek)
Affected Streets: Visarend, Martha, Mary, Susanna, Delta, Omega, Gladiola, Petronella, Gamma, Zeta, Alpha, Beta, Sigma, Omicron, Lambda, Epsilon, Iota.

The disruption is due to a copper cable theft incident affecting telecommunications infrastructure in the area.

Technical teams have been deployed and are actively working to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

Customers are encouraged to report any suspicious activity near Telecom Namibia infrastructure to the Namibian Police or the nearest Telecom Namibia office.

TELECOM NAMIBIA IS COMMITTED TO COOPERATING WITH CRAN ON NETWORK SERVICES DISRUPTIONS

Telecom Namibia acknowledges the recent media statement issued by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) regarding recurring broadband service disruptions affecting parts of the country.

The company notes CRAN’s concerns regarding the impact of these disruptions on consumers, businesses, and institutions, as well as the importance of maintaining quality of service standards and transparent communication.

Telecom Namibia confirms that it is fully cooperating with CRAN and will provide a comprehensive briefing outlining the root causes of the network disruptions, the interventions currently underway, and the measures being implemented to stabilise services and prevent recurrence.

The disruptions are linked to a combination of network infrastructure challenges and system-related issues within the fixed broadband and mobile environment. Our technical teams remain fully mobilised and are working around the clock to restore affected services and strengthen overall network resilience.
Telecom Namibia recognises the critical role reliable connectivity plays in Namibia’s socio-economic development and digital transformation. The company, therefore takes the current service challenges seriously and is accelerating a series of targeted interventions, including:
