It is very unfortunate in Namibia that the health and safety inspectorate in the Ministry of Labour instead of being proactive are reactive in inspecting workplaces.

I have been working on many construction sites and found that during the lifespan of a project it is possible that you will find no visits or inspections done by inspectors from the health and safety inspectorate in the Ministry of Labour.

Hence the reason most of the employers in Namibia ignore the HSE legislation and regulations and standards.

According to section 42 of the Labour Act, the Employee’s has right to leave dangerous place of work.
