Last week, we had the honour of welcoming the Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, H.E. Ambassador Zhao Weiping, to the Creative Industry Institute Africa (CIIA).

During the visit, the Ambassador emphasized the growing importance of the creative industry in preserving and promoting culture, as well as shaping the stories nations tell about themselves. The Ambassador further highlighted that cultural exchange plays an important role in deepening friendship and cooperation between Namibia and China, and acknowledged that CIIA is contributing meaningfully to this objective.

The Embassy also shared that it has recently increased its engagement with Namibia’s creative sector and creatives, recognizing the importance of cultural and creative exchange, and expressed its intention to contribute to the Namibian Government’s efforts to prioritize and develop the creative industry.

CIIA looks forward to strengthening meaningful cultural and creative collaboration between Namibia and China moving forward, fostering mutual understanding, friendship, and shared opportunities for creatives in both countries.

The Creative Industry Institute Africa is delighted to collaborate with the on the latest edition of the Creative Industry Guide 2026 ✨

With the previous edition published in 2019, there is a clear need for an updated and comprehensive resource that accurately reflects the current landscape of Namibia’s creative economy.

An up-to-date guide is critical for strengthening industry, informing policy and investment decisions, and enabling meaningful collaboration across the sector.

We would like to sincerely thank the Directorate of Arts for their support in advancing this important initiative.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards building a more connected and well-documented creative industry in Namibia.

team paid a courtesy visit to the Creative Industry Institute Africa (CIIA) to learn more about our work in strengthening Namibia’s creative economy, and to explore opportunities for future alignment and collaboration. 🇪🇺🇳🇦✨

The meeting was attended by Mr Ian Dupont, Head of Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Namibia, together with Mr Twaku Kayofa, Press & Communications Officer (PPI Section).

We look forward to continued dialogue and partnership in support of skills development, cultural exchange, and international market access for Namibian creatives. 🤝🎨
