Mother Fransina Araes from a farm called Eitsam- !ub pos, Pomros, more or less 80km southwest from Gibeon, is celebrating and showcasing her family veggies harvest day on Thursday, 14th May 2026. Aunty Araes is a member of Gibeon based backyard container gardeners group.

We at RISE and all other members of Backyard container gardeners groups in Hardap, including Gibeon, Maltahohe, Mariental, Stampriet, Hoachanas and Rehoboth wish to share mother Fransina's Araes joy. We wish to congratulate her for exemplary inspiring work. Mother Araes, keep up the good work! We see you! We appreciate you. We remain willing to follow your footsteps and to emulate your legacy.

Our beloved mothers from Gibeon based backyard container gardeners group. Keep up the inspiring work MOTHERS!

Members of the gardeners group called "G6 Uibasen" had house visits today, 17th March. They were accompanied by the visitor Ms. Monaliza Karigus, a volunteer of RISE and a member of Mariental based backyard container gardeners group.

The house visits were followed by a meeting at MAFWLR training room and the day's events were concluded with soft drinks at Ms Bank's house, the Chairlady's house.

The aim was to focus on backyard container gardens to identify progress, challenges, opportunities and the wayforward.

Future looks promising and is offering opportunities. It's however only up to us, the women In Gibeon to make it happen!

Ats ... we from Stampriet backyard container gardeners group, are not going to be left behind! Maltahohe, Mariental , Hoachanas, Gibeon ..... Ons van Stampriet bly besig!

Mrs. Maria Boois, a RISE volunteer and the Chairlady of the Mariental based backyard container gardeners group visited the Stampriet womens group on 14th March 2026, for sharing of ideas on progress, challenges and opportunities.

A meeting was held at the end of house visits and the following topics were discussed (1). Backyard container gardening. (2) Wise savings clubs and their relationship with MTC MARIS , as well as (3). Follow up training on Nama Traditional soap production.

RISE - NAMIBIA is promoting in partnership with MAFWLR in Hardap, ....
(a) household based, backyard container gardens
(b) Wise savings clubs
(c) Nama Traditional soap production

All the above are promoted as systems to enhance spirit of selfhelp and food security to improve livelihoods.

The aim was to meet each member right at his or her doorstep. at his or her backyard garden for on the spot advice in the true spirit of :each one teach one!:

Woow. Van sit kom niks! There is no help for those sitting idle!

Mariental based backyard container gardeners group, called Taradi !hana Xabadi, met the Agricultural Extension officers from MAFWLR. ones based in Mariental (Hardap region), to share ideas and to map the wayforward.(25th Feb 2026).

MAFWLR donated seeds to members of the Backyard container group during the meeting on 25th Feb 2026.
