Meet our latest batch of kittens who are looking for families to love.

𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬: snacks, cuddles, climbing things they shouldn’t, dramatic zoomies, and falling asleep in inconvenient places.

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬: being alone (which is why we’d LOVE for them to be adopted in pairs 💕)

They are available to be reserved now, but because they are still so little, they will only be ready to go home towards the end of June. In the meantime, future families are welcome to come visit!

Last week, this boy was rescued from the streets after being found limping and badly wounded. We still don't know how he got these injuries...

After being rescued by the SPCA, he spent 3 days at the vet where his wounds were treated, including a deep infected one that required a drain. It's not been an easy start, but he's slowly learning that people can be kind.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬🥳

✨ Aya has found herself a little slice of heaven with Sonia and family out on the farm. She is settling into her new surroundings, getting to know her furry brother, and taking things at her own pace.

✨ Nelly is beginning her happy ever after on a small plot with her new canine companion. We hear she has already claimed the couch as her throne and is settling in wonderfully! Thank you, Gustav, for choosing adoption.

✨ Duchess and little Choco stayed closer to home, so close in fact that they walked to their new home over the weekend! Stella and her family met them at the end of May and instantly clicked with the pair. Thankfully, these two enjoy each other’s company, making the transition to family life that much easier.

To everyone who chooses adoption: thank you. Every animal adopted from our shelter gets a second chance, and every adoption opens the door for us to help another animal in need.

𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐩𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 🥺➡️

Last week, this puppy was found scavenging for food at the rubbish dump in Nomtsoub. Skin and bone. Covered in ticks. Weak and clearly running out of options.

But then someone stopped. Breytenbach refused to look away.

She tried to find his owners, but nobody came forward for him. She got him to safety and handed him over to us with a little care package to help kick-start his healing.

The vet confirmed he has advanced tick bite fever. His gums were almost white and his blood so thin that it was clear he had been unwell for a long time.

Meet 𝐎𝐝𝐞𝐧: a name that means strength, and a tiny warrior already living up to it. Now warm in his yellow PJs, on treatment, and finally getting the care he deserves.

He’s not out of the woods yet, but he no longer has to fight alone. 💚

MISSING DOG - TSUMEB

Over the past few weeks, we have once again been reminded how fortunate we are to have such thoughtful people standing behind our shelter.

One day soon we hope to be able to share the same update about the Animal Protection and Welfare Bill in Namibia 🙏

Die uitspraak gee verdere gewig aan bestaande wette teen dieremishandeling en kan strenger optrede teen oortreders ondersteun.

Regskenners meen die besluit kan ’n groot invloed hê op toekomstige sake oor dieremishandeling, toesig oor troeteldiere en dierewelsyn in die algemeen. Dit weerspieël ook ’n wêreldwye tendens waar lande toenemend erken dat troeteldiere meer as besittings is en dat hulle spesiale wetlike beskerming verdien.

Brasilië het reeds in onlangse jare sy dieremishandelingswette verskerp. Onder die sogenaamde Sansão-wet kan mense wat honde en katte mishandel gevangenisstraf van twee tot vyf jaar, boetes en selfs ’n verbod op toekomstige troeteldierbesit in die gesig staar.

Die vraag is nou: Sal meer lande dieselfde pad volg en troeteldiere amptelik as voelende wesens eerder as besittings erken?
