Storytelling through curated experiences

This photograph takes me right back to that childlike sense of wonder we carried as little girls.
As I enter a much-needed season of rest, I find myself reflecting on the weddings that have filled the past few months. Celebrations that take months upon months of dreaming, planning, creating and refining, only for a thousand carefully considered details to unfold in a single day that passes in the blink of an eye.
As this season draws to a close, my creativity has felt a little weary, and with that, the motivation to curate social media content has quietly taken a back seat. But last week, just before I stepped away to rest, a gallery landed in my inbox… →

We’re now in a magazine!
A concept that brought my love for conceptual thinking and storytelling to life - first written in my journal while sitting in my office last May - has now made its way into Namibia’s .magazine 🤍
Where the Water Once Was has been an outward expression of my heart and soul, and the life breathed into this spark of an idea was all thanks to the phenomenal team on Namibians and South Africans who walked this journey with HOUT.

// Kerri & Steve
The electricity between these best friends was almost tangible, filling the day with a relaxed and unforced narrative.
Rain on your wedding day is said to be a blessing, and in this case, these two were BLESSED.
As yachties, adaptability is second nature to these two. Their Coastal Dolce Vita aesthetic was set to be calm and sun-filled, until Plett decided to shift the narrative. The heavens opened, timelines dissolved, and nearly a year of planning was reworked in a matter of minutes.
Yet, Kerri and Steve were completely present, unbothered, and fully trusting the process. They stepped into their couples shoot in the pouring rain, embraced every change with a smile, and carried on with the same calm and fun energy they began with.
A quiet lesson learnt: When you let go of how things are meant to look, you make space for how they are meant to feel.

HOUT is not simply my business;
it is my head and my heart made tangible. My brand is an embodiment of me as a person, which makes every encounter with HOUT an encounter with the truest parts of who I am.
This past weekend, HOUT stepped into something new: our first expo. The goal was simple, yet meaningful: to connect face-to-face, to show the heart behind the name, and to create moments where the beauty of intention and human connection collide.
Our stand was a reflection of this embodiment - heart on my sleeve, every detail intentional. Because to me, EVERYTHING is a touchpoint. The way a couple first hears about you, the way they are welcomed, the words spoken, and the way the space makes them feel. Each moment is a chance to tell the story of HOUT.
This weekend was not about standing in front of a stall. It was about placing my head and my heart on display and inviting others into the story. It was about allowing people to see HOUT beyond the idea of a service - as a partnership, a space for connection, and a vessel for turning stories into curated experiences.
Thank you for capturing these stunning moments for me 🤍
Meet the Head & Heart of HOUT
A little reintroduction for all the new faces we have welcomed on here recently 🤍
Hi, I’m Shannon, the Head and Heart behind HOUT.
I am a small-town girl from the South Coast of KZN, now rooted in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs with my husband (the Strong Arms behind HOUT) and our fur baby.
I am a detail-obsessed, heart-led perfectionist, dedicated to crafting experiences that are both meticulously structured and deeply intentional. With a personal, hands-on approach, I treat every couple like close friends and care for each wedding as if it were my own.
HOUT is not simply my business; it is my head and my heart made tangible - a space where passion and intention meet to create something unforgettable. Through it, I stay true to my down-to-earth ‘love your neighbour’ values and to the belief that moments of love, joy, and togetherness are worth preserving.
