Zimbabwe through its Revenue Authority has recently introduced mandatory tagging of all transit cargo in containers as well as fuel tankers.
Breakbulk cargo is supposed to be escorted across Zimbabwe to the point of exit.
This however has affected the smooth movement of trucks through the country as Zimra is poorly equipped to carry this out efficiently.
Truckers are now waiting up to five days after papers are out to be escorted to their points of exit.
We foresee a situation where truckers are just going to avoid the country altogether as these delays are counter-productive and very expensive as well a hindrance to the smooth flow of cargo in the SADC region.
