Boerboel under evaluation
If your friend is a hyperactive Yorkie, you have to learn to be fast and agile. We have a young dog under evaluation at Linjo. If he ticks the important boxes, he will retain his balls.... if not, he will be a guard dog.
How many breeders still evaluate dogs to decide if they fit in or not? The current 'way of breeding' is to buy offspring from anything with a grand sounding title and use it irrespective of what it turns out to be. Not all 'well bred' dogs are good dogs. Not all expensive dogs should be bred with. Even the best breeders sometimes produce very bad puppies, irrespective of how hard they try. A kennelname means very little, so little that I am not even considering buying any dog from any of the large breeders. In the past many dogs were allowed to live good lives on the yard and with families but were never used for breeding. The tradition that only those dogs which will positively contribute to the betterment of the breed should be used for breeding, changed because true quality control over breeders and their litters do not exist any more. If you get away with poor quality once, it might be luck but if poor quality is consistently allowed through, it becomes the norm. The fault lies not with the breeders but with the evaluators and their organisation which sets the height of the bar.
I miss the old days...... and in the meantime, Atlas (6 months old) is being watched closely. He has no know parents, no Grand Champions and an unknown breeder..... and I intend to keep it that way.

No, I have not retired, disappeared or given up on the Boerboel breed.
I am simply extremely busy with other important things which takes up a lot of time.
