The prominent, innovative and disruptive start-up Umbrella was announced the third best start-up in Mozambique by the Moztech Business Challenge 2019 on May 16, 2019 during the gala awards of Moztech (VI edition) Mozambique's largest technology fair.

The Start-up, begun in early 2018, has developed a web & mobile platform for the insuring process, claims reporting and roadside assistance requests. Claiming to be the first and most innovative insurtech, Umbrella is insurance made smart, easy and convenient.

In September 2018, six months after its conception, Umbrella was the second winner of the Seedstar World Maputo 2018, a worldwide competition that promotes the development and recognition of innovative ideas around the world.

Umbrella CEO and founder Fausto Massunga explained that "Moztech's recognition strengthens the conviction I have and is shared by the Umbrella team, this is more than a winning idea, this is disruptively innovative and has legs to walk. It is another incentive after the Seedstars 2018 and with our passion, motivation and focus; we will soon change the insurance industry in Mozambique. We are the pioneers, the most innovative technological platform making the insurance smart, easy and convenient. "

The Moztech Business Challenge was aimed to distinguish the most innovative ideas developed in Mozambique in the areas of technology and the evaluation criteria gathered 45% of the score for Creativity and Innovation. Fifty candidates participated of which 30 were selected for the challenge and 5 were nominated for the finals, being awarded 3. The Xipalapala, BacelaApp and Umbrella start-ups were the winners. It must be noted that Umbrella was the only one selected among 3 Insurtechs in the competition.
