The Maputo Concierge: making it easy to live and work in Maputo We all have moments in our lives when we feel overwhelmed and in need of some outside support.

Moving house is always one of those times when you also consider that Africa can be a massive culture shock to some and Maputo even more so due to the language barrier; if you haven't already mastered Portuguese everything is daunting. Throw in a new job to boot and you have a potentially tricky chapter to navigate. We know this, we have been here a long time, we can help you to get through it. We

Thai massage recommendation time for Johannesburg. This gem of a place is hidden in the car park of a shopping mall, but the lovely Thai lady called Lucky can definitely find all of your creaky bits and work them out! It was not relaxing one bit, but that wasn’t the point lol

It’s Johannesburg recommendations time of the year.. this feast of delightful goodies came from the Grillhouse in Rosebank. Springbok carpaccio, Gorgonzola salad, hummus platter and then my choice was Ostrich steak which I will definitely be seeking out again. Highly recommend

Nothing like a lazy lunch at Lemon Beach Lodge in Vilanculos. This time stuffed crab, bean soup, prawn curry and a delightful lemon cheesecake; a proper cheesecake with a biscuit base ( none of this American baked nonsense that calls itself a cheesecake in maputo!) and what a spectacular view!

If you want an adventure, get yourself a permit to drive on the beach (2,000 MZN) and head up to BD Point to the north of Inhassoro.

You can park up on the beach at the end and braai or picnic (remember to take everything away with you though!) but there is also a little lodge up there where you can eat, drink & merrily play in their pool. It’s called Mermaids Tiki Bar.

If you want an adventure, get yourself a permit to drive on the beach (2,000 MZN) and head up to BD Point to the north of Inhassoro. It’s absolutely stunning. These 2 ships washed up in a cyclone and are busily being stripped to the bones by locals, so whilst they are ugly now, the may not exist soon enough!

What a fabulous new edition to Vilanculos. Everyone’s favourite restaurant from Tofo Sumi Bar and Kitchen has opened a second venue called Kasumi. Same menu, same amazing quality, same beautiful decor… 100% recommend

When taking the long drive north to Vilanculos time your car snacks so that you can get the real deal KFC en route. There’s one in Xai Xai for lunch and another one in Maxixe for dinner. I mean, it’s not a proper road trip if there aren’t greasy hand prints on every surface right?

One of my favourite little plates in Barra Neptune's Lodge & Beach Bar - calamari poppers! Think jalapeño poppers and add in a healthy dose of seafood and lightly battered. I could eat this every day!

What a lovely little breakfast / lunch spot on the beach in Tofo. It’s called The Brunching Whale, and it’s a delight. Beautifully decorated, perfectly located & definitely catering for the crowd with plenty of coffee and cake, vegetarian and vegan options and a personal approach to service. They also serve cocktails (whatever time you need one!!! ;-) )

Another WOW moment at The Thirsty Parrot in Barra. The value for money, compared to so many places, is crazy. A mountain of prawns, chips, rice & salad for 750 Mets. You can’t even eat it all.. careful Barra, I might move here!

It’s not often I am wowed by a special offer but The Thirsty Parrot in Barra at Sunset Lodge puts on a fantastic Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Lots of healthy veggies (al dente and fresh), roast potatoes, 3 meats including pork belly (which is what suckered me into the deal in the first place!) highly recommend
