The Machangulo Nature Reserve unfolds across 5,700 hectares of untamed African beauty: a remote and exclusive sanctuary where wilderness meets the endless blue of the Indian Ocean.

Along its 25-kilometre stretch of secluded shoreline, you’ll find our collection of 14 villas, each designed to live in harmony with nature.

Maputo National Park, which borders the southern edge of the Machangulo Nature Reserve has officially been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Maputo National Park has come a long way from its humble beginning as a small hunting area formed in 1932. Increasing awareness of the importance of biodiversity led it to be classified as the Maputo Special Reserve in 1969. Less than a decade later, Mozambique fell into a 15-year civil war that devastated local wildlife populations, driving some to extinction. 

This international recognition highlights the extraordinary natural beauty and ecological importance of our region.

UNESCO indicated that Maputo Park features “diverse habitats, including lakes, lagoons, mangroves and coral reefs”, as well as long beaches, dunes, swamps, extensive wetlands and diverse grasslands, providing a habitat for a range of 5.000 species from southern Africa, from coastal forests to marine sanctuaries, from nesting sea turtles to roaming African elephants and from vibrant coral reefs to ancient mangrove systems.

We thank the Mozambican government, local communities, passionate conservationists, ANAC, TFCA, Peace Parks and everyone else who made this happen. Their dedication over the past decade helped restore wildlife, build vital infrastructure and strengthen park management -making this global recognition possible.
