Drop-in or intake kit?

Usually the most common step in upgrading a car is the air intake. But which should you go for? A direct replacement drop-in filter, or a full intake kit?

If you’re looking to just make your car run smoother, a drop-in filter will do just fine. But if you want to make more power, and intake kit is the way to go. A drop-in filter helps increase the amount of air the car can take in. Whereas an intake kit, reduces restrictions along the whole intake system and smoothens out the airflow. This in turn, allows the engine to produce more power.

A lot of people wonder why they should tune their car. Especially when it’s not heavily modded. So, should you tune your car? Let’s get into it...

There are many types of tunes for your car. It doesn’t just mean pushing for power. It can be about reliability and driveability. Factory tunes are done so that the car would run without any issues. But is it optimal? Not really. Most cars have a general tune from factory. Meaning, there are a lot of other factors which could affect how the car runs. Like climate, elevation, fuel grade, and so on. Even though the engines are the same, it doesn’t mean they run the same.

Tuning your car ensures that it runs smoothly and properly according to your own car’s condition, fuel grade and the climate you’re in. This increases the reliability and longevity of your engine. Keeping you on the road for longer. So tuning your car even if it hasn’t been modded much, is still beneficial to the maintenance of your car.

Stage 2? Yes, please!

A common upgrade for most people is a stage 2 setup. At this stage, you can feel a significant increase in power and torque compared to the factory setup. Most are satisfied at this stage and focus on cosmetics and other minor upgrades beyond this point.

What’s the minimum for a stage 2 setup? The most basic, is an upgraded air intake, and a downpipe. This opens the doors to a stage 2 tune that will make your car feel completely different in terms of power. Of course, there are other components that could be upgraded as well before getting a tune. Intercoolers, charge pipes, turbo outlets, or any fuel related components should be considered before tuning. Keep in mind that once you’ve tuned your car, certain upgrades after that might require you to re-tune it again. So plan ahead to save your wallet!

Routines are beneficial
