Engineering Reliable Power Connections – Technical Visit with IEM & VTAR

We were honoured to host a technical visit at CONWAY for participants from the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) - Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD), together with final-year students from VTAR Institute.

The half-day session focused on the theme:

Engineering Reliable Power Connections – LV & MV Cable Accessories & Termination Systems

Participants were given practical exposure to:

- Best practices in electrical connections – copper, aluminium & bi-metal connectors
- Crimped vs mechanical (shear-bolt) technologies
- MS 1540 & IEC 61238 standards compliance
- Full load testing & pull-test demonstrations in our product lab
- Correct crimping, installation techniques & field application insights
- Heat-shrink and cold-shrink jointing & termination systems

Beyond theory, the highlight was witnessing live demonstrations — including proper vs poor crimp comparisons and performance testing — reinforcing how quality workmanship and standards compliance directly impact system reliability and safety.

At CONWAY, we believe knowledge sharing is part of industry building. Engaging both practicing engineers and future engineers reflects our commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s electrical ecosystem through technical competency and real-world exposure.
