Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Tea Ceremony event organized by the Centre for Language Studies UTHM and the International Culture and Language Club (ICLC)! ๐
Participants had the opportunity to learn about tea culture, its history, and varieties, explore the art of tea preparation, and, most excitingly, enjoy the hands-on experience of brewing their own tea. It was a truly enriching journey into the beauty of this timeless tradition.
A heartfelt thank you to the tea master from Eline Tea Ceremony Centre, Ms Eline, the facilitators from Batu Pahat Rest House, as well as the committee members and participants for your dedication and enthusiasm in making this event a memorable success. UTHM Lion Dance Experiencing Workshop

Category 1: Individual (Fee: RM30 per person)
Open to Participants of All Backgrounds (Ages 16 and Above)
Category 2: Family (RM 48 per group)
Kids will get a chance to see the lion dance up close, learn some dance steps, and try basic drumming.
Add on craft session for family groups
๐ต Fee: RM 48 per group (1 adult + 1 child), for children aged 6-12 years.
Each child must have a parent or guardian with them.

๐โจ A Remarkable Cultural Exchange Day! ๐ค๐
On September 10, 2023, UTHM played host to an unforgettable cultural exchange session with Japanese students. This event, meticulously organized by the International Culture and Language Club UTHM in collaboration with the Center for Language Studies, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Build Environment, and International Office, brought together a diverse group of 45 participants hailing from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, and Bangladesh.
The participants embraced the day by adorning an array of traditional attire, including Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu and Indian clothing from Malaysia, Yukata from Japan, and Yemeni attire. They also enjoyed traditional games like Congkak, Batu Seremban and Kendama and immersed themselves in Japanese art, including the elegant practice of calligraphy. Moreover, they had the unique opportunity to craft and send postcards worldwide, promoting cultural understanding and fostering global friendships.
As the day drew to a close, cherished memories were beautifully captured in a montage. ๐ธ๐ฌ Following a day filled with meaningful cultural exchange, participants departed with enriched experiences and enduring bonds. ๐๐ค

๐โจ Exciting Cultural Exchange in Parit Bugis Village! On September 7-8, 2023, a Japanese delegation led by Prof. Dr. Masutani Satoshi immersed themselves in Javanese architecture and culture. They were accompanied by UTHM Centre for Language Studies staff, including Hiyama Junko, Yeoh Li Cheng, and Abdul Hadi Bin Abd Aziz, along with the Head of Muar Living Lab, Dr. Nor Azizi Bin Yusoff.
During their two-day homestay with local families, they had the pleasure of savoring traditional Javanese dishes like nasi ambeng.
The visit encompassed explorations of the Traditional Javanese House, thanks to the insights provided by Aliff Johar, the Secretary of the Javanese Association in Parit Bugis (PERJAWA). Additionally, they ventured to local cottage industries and enjoyed a lively evening filled with cultural performances. Notably, Japanese participants showcased their talents, including the enchanting Soran Bushi dance!
On the second day, traditional games and cultural activities added to the excitement. It was a memorable cultural exchange that fostered deeper understanding and lasting friendships. ๐ฏ๐ต๐ค๐ฒ๐พ
