Just finished a weathered build on the P-Bandai MG Powered GM. I initially wanted to paint it in the GM Type C colours (as that kit is hard to find now in Malaysia, and was thinking on swapping it every now and then between being the Powered GM and the Type C), but decided to just fully commit to making it the Powered in the end.
For the colours, I maintained the general colours of the unit, but used a more toned down orange to get a slightly more miltaristic feel. I also swapped out the orange on the knees for white, as I prefer the typical colour EFSF layout compared to the Powered GM's one. Lastly, I painted the inner frame of the visor in metallic green to still get that usual GM green visor, as I didn't have any Clear Green on hand.
For decals, majority of them were from a third-party MG Nu Gundam Ver. Ka sheet that I bought for another project that I didn't end up using, alongside some from the included sheet and a few other random sheets.
For the weathering, I used the "weathering crayons" from Mr. Hobby (generally the sand/dirt ones) for the feet and the bottom of the shield, as this unit was generally known to be used on the ground. I also applied some water on the crayon area to give it a more faded effect. Also, I used Gunmental and Steel on the edges of the unit to make some chippping effect, which was applied via toothpick. Everything was then sealed using a mix of Mr. Hobby Flat Clear applied via airbrush, and Vallejo Mecha Matte Varnish for any areas that I missed.
Overall, I am very happy with the end result of the build, and hope I can actually find the actual Type C for a reasonable price int he future.

Been doing the MG Powered GM in an on-again, off-again manner for the past two weeks, but glad its finally done (mostly), just in time to be displayed this weekend at a local event.
Still have some weathering to do on it though...

Finished a straight build of the MG Jegan Type D "First Deployment Colors" on Sunday. Great build experience, and the finished look with all the decals is great (the big NA symbol was a pain to apply though). Only painted parts on this build were the inside of the visor, and the tip of the rifle, but other than those, only "paints" applied were the matte topcoat and the panel lining.

Pacific Rim "Gypsy Danger" by Empire Sky Studio
Pacific Rim is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the main mech, Gypsy Danger, is up there as one of my favourite designs ever for a mech, so I was very happy to see that there's now an affordable and decent quality figure/model kit of it being sold online.
The model comes with all the necessary accessories it needs to just about do everything it can from the movie. The articulation is pretty decent, though I wish there was an extra joint in the forearm to help it pose better. The LED gimmick is pretty cool though, and is activated by placing a magnet in front of the chest exhaust area, and it has two modes for it too (On for ~1 minute, or "breathing" mode). It's not a big model at only 14cm, but it packs a lot for the size.

Got some time to spend on progressing with the MG GMIII build, and finally got the HG Nu HWS leg booster pods mounted to the GMII body. Made it so it could be detached for easier painting.

Sinanju in a nightmare sequence
Took pretty much a whole day to finish this drawing (plus 2 or so hours initial sketch from a few days ago), being a bust drawing of the Sinanju. Initially wanted to do the Dooku "signature look of superiority" meme, but ended up turning it into something wholly different (and probably better).

It started with a question by my dad about the large LEGO Technic Mercedes AMG Petronas set (the 63cm+) one. I told him we didn't have the space to display it at home, and diverted him to getting the smaller 20cm Speed Champions one. Now it's multiplied to 5, and he wants to finish the entire 2025 lineup of 10 teams 🫡
Still, had a lot of fun working on these and supervising the builds, and the stickers weren't too bad to apply. Just need to get a display case for them now so that we can keep them safe from kids visiting during Eid later (had one of my own Bionicles stolen when I was 7, so don't want that to happen again).

Finally got some more progress on the MG "GMIII" build. The front boosters have been glued, and the gaps covered up a bit to make them look more "integrated" into the suit. Will clean them up tomorrow when the putty has cured.
After that, just need to add in the leg side boosters, using the HG HWS pods as a base.

Built my first ever LEGO set in probably 10 years, the Starship Collection Venator-class Attack Cruiser from Star Wars Prequels. This is one of my favourite ships in the entire series, but I never had many options in terms of getting one easily in this size (nobody sells the Revell model here, the Armada tabletop one is hard to find, the LEGO UCS is way too expensive and large, and Bandai hasn't done a lot of Prequel ships too), so the moment LEGO announced this, I knew I had to get it.
The build was surprisingly a lot more complicated than what I was used to building before this (still a lot of fun), but the overall result is a very good looking model of an amazing starship design, and the provided plaque is really sturdy too. The size is just right for the level of detail, and a lot of nice little tricks were used to compensate for the scale and available LEGO pieces (it's not a model kit, so they do have to compensate in areas).
Overall, really satisfied with the set, and I might consider getting the Acclamator Assault Ship to complete a Clone Wars Republic display.

First drawing of 2026 done, Skybound's rendition of Optimus Prime form their comics, with Megatron's fusion cannon arm. Been working on and off on this since around early December, and happy to finally finish it just before I finish my end-of-year office break.

After a very busy past few months of work, I managed to gather up two weeks of leave and get some time to do some modelling work again!
This model in question is the "v1.5" MG GM Quel that can be built from the Premium Bandai MG Gundam TR-1 Hazel II (Early Type) kit. I'm a big fan of GMs, but I strongly prefer the GM Custom over the GM Quel, so I decided to repaint it to look like the former instead, though it is mainly because the MG GM Custom kit is hard to find in my area of Malaysia, and is also more expensive than this Premium Bandai kit (likely due to it being old, not looked for by most people, out of production, etc.).
For the work put into it, no modding was done except for some seamline removal on the rifle and a bit of the shoulders, with the rest of the work being focussed on the actual painting. The paints used are as follows:
>> Tamiya Acrylic - Light Blue (for the main body)
>> Skull Colors - German Gray (for some parts of the body, shield and rifle)
>> Doloha Markers - Metallic Gray (for the thrusters)
>> Doloha Markers - Gunmetal (for the gun barrel)
>> Doloha Markers - Metallic Silver (for the pistons and internal visor)
>> Doloha Markers - Metallic Light Green (for the cameras)
>> Doloha Markers - Red (for the insides of the verniers & thrusters)
>> Doloha Markers - Yellow (for the V on the crotch)
Decals are mainly made up of caution labels from the MG Nu Gundam Ver. Ka, numbers EFSF logos from an 08th MS team set, and the smaller faction symbols were from another set of just logos. Everything was then sealed off with a matte topcoat with light weathering on top (mainly to help blend in some of the blemishes from painting).
Overall, I'm really happy with how the final result came out, and also happy that I can end the year with a custom/painted build after such a long while. Hopefully I can get to doing more finished builds in 2026, as I have a lot of kits/projects that I haven't gotten around to yet.
Happy New Year everyone!
