The SIFMA Orchestra is a dynamic and collaborative ensemble formed specially for the Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA). Bringing together talented musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, this orchestra stands as a shining symbol of unity, artistry, and cultural exchange.

Featuring performers from The Band Lab, UNIMAS, RTM, SONS, as well as musicians from various music schools and independent studios, the SIFMA Orchestra embodies a rich blend of experience and youthful energy. Each member contributes their unique sound and passion, creating a vibrant collective capable of delivering moving and powerful performances.

More than just an ensemble, the SIFMA Orchestra is a platform where students, educators, and professionals come together to collaborate, learn, and grow. Through rehearsals, workshops, and shared musical experiences, members gain invaluable exposure to high-level ensemble playing while building meaningful connections within the music community.

This year, they will bring a spectacular performance to SIFMA 6, showcasing classical gems, contemporary works, and culturally inspired pieces that highlight the transformative power of music.

Introducing the Sarawak Guitar Symphony at SIFMA 6! 🎶

The Sarawak Guitar Symphony is composed of talented students from various music schools across Kuching, studying under the guidance of Mr. Kenny Then, Mr. Ian Teo, Mr. John Wu, and Mr. Mark Maloney Martinez. The ensemble showcases the guitar’s remarkable versatility in an orchestral setting — a quality they portray beautifully through their performance.

In their debut SIFMA appearance, the Sarawak Guitar Symphony, in collaboration with the IMH String Ensemble, will accompany Dr. Gonzalo Misa as soloist, under the baton of Mr. Reginald Bernaldez.

Before the stage lights rise and the music begins, SIFMA 2025 will open with something just as meaningful — a warm, shared meal.
On 5 December, all participating groups from across Asia will gather for a relaxed Meet & Greet Lunch Session at the stylish Fifty8 Café, where artists can unwind, exchange stories, and enjoy the flavours of Sarawak together.

To make this afternoon even more special, our culinary partners Jordan’s Signature Catering Services will be serving a vibrant local buffet — showcasing the region’s rich spices, textures, and hospitality.

From comforting favourites to Sarawakian specialties, this is where cultural exchange begins not with instruments, but with shared plates.

This Meet & Greet is more than a meal:
