Many recruiters do not ask the right questions to find out more about the candidates they are trying to recruit. Without the right questions, there is no way to get the right information. Without the right information, there is no way to identify the right people. Instead of just asking basic questions, spend some time to sharpen this skill and you will be able to see some magic happening in your recruitment.

Spoken language can be easily misunderstood and turned into an assumption when the body language such as facial expression, sitting posture, or even movements are being ignored. Modern psychology has proven that body language tends to display some unspoken messages. When a recruiter is able to read those unspoken messages, he or she can tell whether the candidate is being honest or not. Pay more attention to their body language and surprise yourself with those unspoken messages you get from your candidates.

The biggest mistake most recruiters made is to assume that everyone is wired the same way. Every individual is wired differently and they have different strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. When a recruiter knows how to read people, he or she can tell immediately the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the candidates. This skill enables recruiters to customize their approach to maximize their strengths and avoid their blind spots to produce great results and become a high performer after they are being recruited. Doing the right things is crucial but stop doing the wrong things is even more critical. Many people and organizations are not able to tap into their real potential simply because they keep repeating the same wrong things for the longest time. By continuing to do the wrong things, growth is ultimately crippled, and we know that anything that doesn't grow will eventually die; in this case, it fails.
Albert Einstein's quoted, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.". In my opinion, "DOUBLE-INSANITY" is doing the same WRONG thing over and over again but expecting different results. It always never fail to amaze me, or should I say amuse me, whenever I see people or organization that refuse to admit the wrong things that they have been doing and still try to innovate those wrong things. The ironic part is that when they finally failed horribly, they will still never admit that they did the wrong things. The only word I can use to describe my feeling - speechless.
Whenever we are stuck, instead of just asking ourselves, "Am I doing the right thing?" we should also be asking ourselves, "Am I keep doing the wrong things?". When we can identify those wrong things we have been doing, we will gain clarity. To get unstuck and move on, we need to stop doing those wrong things. If we don't stop doing those wrong things, no matter how many right things we try to do, it will be pointless; we will fail because those wrong things we keep on doing will hold us down and keep sabotaging us.
So, don't just do the right things but stop doing those wrong things. Don't practice "DOUBLE-INSANITY".

Clarity is so critical because it affects our lives in many ways. Most of the time, we are stuck because we lack clarity. As soon as we gained clarity, we will know what to do next. We know how to move on.
I remember more than 10 years ago, I was facing some challenges in running my computer business, which got me stuck for quite a while. I tried everything I knew back then, and nothing really worked. I then spoke to my mentor, and he guided me to see clearly how to overcome those challenges. Looking back now, if I did not gain clarity back then, I would have been stuck there for the longest time, if not forever. I am forever grateful to all my mentors who helped me in many ways to gain clarity, which got me to where I am now.
Whenever we are stuck, we need to ask ourselves - what can I do to gain clarity or whom can I talk to? Here are 3 simple tips to help you gain clarity:
1. Read - I find reading helps, simply because knowledge can help us gain clarity. The more we read, the more knowledge we acquire. Thus, the clearer we become. You can read books / eBooks, listen to audio-books, or even articles from the internet that relates to your challenges.
2. Bounce your ideas or thoughts off someone. Try talking to those whom you regard as more successful than you are. People who are more successful than we are have more experience, and they can see things we cannot see yet. They have walked on paths we have yet to walk on. Their insights can also help us gain clarity.
3. Get a mentor or even hire a coach. Essentially, mentors or coaches are like a mirror. They can help us see things that we cannot because they are not engaged in our thoughts and feelings. They are more rational than we are. That's why we call great mentors and coaches the wise men.
