Organic farming practising sustainable farming methods It started humbly enough in late 1999. We had one employee by then. Improvisation was needed.
Armed with the desire and enthusiasm to venture into farming, we stumbled upon organic farming after realizing what damage conventional farming can do to the environment and animal welfare. It started out as a weekend thing or a "hobby" as most people would have put it. We started experimenting with planting crops organically without the aid of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The going was to
ugh but we learnt that to achieve sustainable farming, it would have to be continuous learning combined with innovation. Earth Alliance Sdn Bhd, the company was formed in the year 2000 after we realized that our pursuit of sustainable farming was no longer a hobby. The concept of pastured poultry was discovered along the way. We found the simple idea of raising chickens free range with clean pastures daily coupled with access to fresh air very appealing. The thought of importing organically certified feed from abroad was too costly, which made us pursue our planting efforts more rigorously. By the year 2002, we have successfully planted corn, multiple varieties of beans, peanuts, sunflower in rotation around the farm. From our knowledge in crop production, we expanded into feed milling with the addition of our own roller mill during the year 2002. Prior to that we increased our biceps by having to mill the feed by hand using whatever we could find. In the year 2003, we started to commercially produce our organically grown chickens to the retail outlets. 11 years on we now produce organic vegetables, goat milk and eggs supplying to established supermarkets in Kuching, and to some restaurants who have been loyal supporters of our chicken.
