This comes from our concerns in the rootedness of architecture in the living and cultural context. PDC Design Group was established in January 2016 as a result of the merger of three Kuching based architectural and design firms. The three firms have a history of close collaboration with each other, and share the same vision and similar professional, ethical and cultural values towards the practice

"Architecture That Makes A Difference"

Completed on 26th May 2026.

The school is conceived as an architecture of place, shaped by the dialogue between landscape, climate, and community. Its folded roof draws from the silhouette of Gunung Serapi, giving the building a memorable horizon and rooting it in its setting.

Oriented north-south, the long facades receive softer daylight and reduced heat gain. External corridors widen into balconies that serve as shaded circulation, informal group-learning terraces, and maintenance zones. Lightweight screens support creepers and climbing vegetation, turning the facade into a living layer that cools the building and becomes part of the children's environmental learning.

Corner staircases connect the balconies into a continuous loop of movement, allowing children to wander up, down, and around the building in a playful sequence of encounter and discovery. Toilets at the east and west ends buffer the harsher low-angle sun. Together, these strategies make the school both climatically responsive and civically expressive - a landmark that gives identity to the surrounding community.
