Trans Nusantara Expedition Welcoming Dinner at the Kilang, hosted by Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Performing Arts & Culture.

Thank you Datu Sherrina binti Hussaini, Permanent Secretary of Sarawak Ministry of Tourism for being the GOH, government agencies, IOF, Brunei 4WDS, Sabah 4WDA and SAKTA for supporting the expedition!

Kami berbesar hati kerana bandaraya Kuching telah dipilih sebagai salah satu destinasi persinggahan acara pengembaraan 4x4 "Trans Nusantara 2024" yang akan berlangsung pada Ogos hingga September ini. Ekspedisi ini akan melibatkan 20 kenderaan dan lokasi pelepasan para peserta adalah di Kuching Waterfront pada 9 Ogos nanti. Ia akan meliputi beberapa destinasi di Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Tengah, Kalimantan Selatan, Kalimantan Timur dan ibu kota Indonesia di Nusantara, Sulawesi, Flores, Sumbawa, Lombok , Bali, Jawa, Jakarta. Acara selama 40 hari itu akan berakhir di Bandaraya Kuching dan ia merupakan kerjasama antara Ekspedisi Overland Borneo dan kumpulan Overland 4x4 Indonesia. Terima kasih diucapkan kepada pihak penganjur kerana telah menjemput saya untuk menyempurnakan upacara pelepasan para peserta. Saya juga telah dijemput untuk mempengerusikan mesyuarat penyelarasan yang melibatkan Kementerian Pelancongan, Industri Kreatif dan Seni Persembahan Sarawak (MTCP) serta jabatan dan agensi Kerajaan tempatan serta Persekutuan yang berkaitan.

The Trans Nusantara Expedition organizing team, along with Epic Borneo, the appointed partner in Kuching, made a courtesy visit to YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts. During the visit, they invited YB Dato to be the Guest of Honor at their welcoming dinner on August 9th at Kilang Borneo and the flag-off ceremony at Kuching Waterfront on August 10th, 2024.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to YB Dato Sri Haji Karim and the Sarawak Tourism Ministry for accepting our invitation and for hosting the welcoming dinner for over 150 members from SAKTA (Sarawak), BFWDA (Brunei), and SFWDA (Sabah) in support of this historic event.

The Trans Nusantara Expedition team, comprising 25 vehicles and 60 members from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, and Australia, will embark on an 8,000 km journey from Kuching, Sarawak. This expedition will cross the international border to Kalimantan to celebrate the historic official opening ceremony of Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) on August 17th, 2024, Indonesia's National Day. The journey will continue through the Indonesian Archipelago, including Sulawesi, Flores, Sumbawa Besar, Lombok, Bali, and Java, before returning to Kuching, Sarawak over 40 days.

Kuching, Sarawak, currently serves as Malaysia's only overland international border crossing point (CIQ) to Indonesia. This initiative is poised to be a game changer for Sarawak, enhancing bilateral trade and tourism across the island of Borneo.
