Yesterday's story, we completed installing the 1st phase of the signage for Justlight, the lighting shop in Batu Kawa, Kuching where you can find almost any lighting stuff at best price. Tested the signage and it lit up beautifully under the dark skies.

Last part of this series. 3 signboard which caught our attention at China street / Carpenter street area. One looks so old that you can hardly tell whats on the signage, Second looks to be an trade that no longer exist, a shop just to sell Weighing Scale. Lastly, the signage that i assume is concrete. How do they even make those kind of signage back then?

Part 2. The Chinese community are particular about their shop's signage. They will look up the most suitable date and specific time to put up their signage which they believe will be prosperous for their business. The older generation almost never take down their signage as they feel like its "closing down business".

These old business signage around Carpenter Street, Kuching are unique. You can see some have 3 languages on it, including Arabic which is uncommon nowadays.

Part 1. Have you ever take a closer look at these old signages at around Carpenter street, Kuching? We took some photos as a form of appreciation to the master craftsman who made them. Before existence of digital printers, most of the signage were hand painted or with the help of stencil tools. Some of the signage are still left there even though the business are no longer operating.
